I hope we can hang with them then. I did not know that they won it last year. I watched then play Greenup Greysbranch in the last game. They looked impressive and moved the ball. They also shut down the running of Greenup except for the score. i know that this will be a good game for us. Shoot why should this one be any different than the last 2. Coal Grove beat us up and Rock Hill tested our speed all night. Any thoughts on Symmes Valley for Thursday????
I know they run a wishbone and 40 is in front, 24 Craft at the Left- tailback and 22 is at the Right-outback. I do know that they run that back side end on a streak pattern off the off side sweep. They run a 6 man D with 1 deep safety. They will string out the pitches and the corners can cover the outside really well.
I hope that the game is injury free and that both teams play great.
I have to rooooot for my DEVILS in this one of course. I have seen these kids play in basketball against us during basketball season. Thursday will be interesting.

I did see someone hiding in the bushes out at SV. ha ha!!!!!!!

Backside end on a streak off the offside sweep. Never seen them do that, but that might work. I also heard they have 11 boys on offence and 11 on defence.

We usually have 11 on O and 11 on D but we snuck in 12 players against RH a couple of times by mistake. LOL
I bet Craft is on both sides of the ball and prolly 9 of the 11 on offense. I think he is about 4 players on D.........HAHAHA. I have watched him play and how the BONE runs. Off tackle right, pitch right. off tackle right, pitch right counter. Trips right and screen pass to Craft. Lets see anything else.. OH how do you cure POison Ivy, I picked it up from the bushes I was in....... I have to tell you that I have never been to SV practice field, I would not know that the field is against the hill and their school colors are red and white. I just took a good guess.
I have seen them play one time but I did take notes. I hope that the notes come in handy for Thursday,,, if I can get all the tree sap off of them......

I did notice 12 on d a couple of times, but the KY officials couldn't count them quick enough as the were running off the field. It's that crazy team speed! As far as the poison ivy,my grandma says cover it with shoe polish it'll go away before you know it .Beware when your in that part of the country there are vikings lurking in the woods! :122248

I have studied Viking history and thats how I got out without a battle axe stuck in my head. We dicussed his longing for the deep icy cold Fjords of home and dragonship trollies that crossed into Ireland in the late 600AD era. I did think he said that he sailed over with Leif Erickson in 660 AD and traveled down from Nova Scotia thru the waterways of the great north east. I think his ship struck ground on a sand bar right down from the Kings Daughters Outreach Center just past the bridge. I had a hard time believing him because he did not look any older that 257 years old. HEY but I was not pushing the issue with him...... he still had an axe in his hand..........
Oh I will try to use the shoe polish, Can I match my skin tone or do i just get the creamy white???? Any thoughts.?????

Any way !!!!! I would never cheat you and you know it. I noticed that there was 12 on the field and when my 12th ran off the field breathed a sigh of relief from his massive 52 pound weight that killed every blade of grass he touched.. Well, maybe not killed it but bent it real good..... it will think twice now before tripping another Russell Monster on that field. HAHHAHAHAHA.

I know brother, and yes you are right, You guys called a time out and he ran off the field. He had no clue what was going on.....
And I know that it is hard to cheat on anything when the opposing coaches meet in the middle of the field and our coach asked the coach what you guys were going to run, and the Rock Hill coach told him. He then turns and walks back off the field and never says a word to anybody..... That is good spotsmanship and hard to find that anywhere. I spoke to the coach after the game he said that the coach told him what they were going to run.. No that is class my friend. class !!!!

I know that their are misconceptions about people and teams in all sports but I will say that Rock HIll is a great team to play in any sport. Thanks again RH for a great challenge, we just squeeked by you. After seeing CG and RH up close I wol have to say that that the CG-RH match up will be a DOOOOZIE !!!!!

Russell 22
Symmes Valley 14

Symmes Valley scores on the second team, twice to make a game of it. Russell Maroon team scored and racked up 310 rushing yards with 20 yards passing. Russell starting defense held the Symmes Valley offense to 16 offensive plays. Russell plays at Morgan Co. Tuesday and will field a Maroon team game at 6pm and the White team will play at 7:15p. Great game guys...... 4-0 to start off the season and the Raceland Orange Bowl Champions.

Big Congrats to Russell on winning the Orange Bowl. Looking forward to playing you guys at Russell on Oct. 21st. We had you guys scheduled this past week also (tonight actually) but we had Fairview on Tuesday away and Raceland at Raceland this weekend so i think they thought 3 games this week was a bit much. That Symmes Valley 6th that beat us in overtime was one hard nosed team. Think they are actually the only team this year we play thats overall smaller than us (our biggest player goes 135lbs and that 10lbs more than any other), but they sure could play. The Fairview team we beat 12-0 on Tuesday night was absolutely huge, as is Boyd County.

On the year so far the Steelers went 1-1 in preseason scrimmages against Lawrence and Boyd Co. In our regular season we are currently 6-2 with wins over East Carter (2), West Carter, McKell, Raceland, Fairview and losses to Symmes Valley in the Orange Bowl and to very solid Portsmouth West at McKell. Actually, 1/3 of our team attend McKell Middle School (and they have their own team) but play for the Steelers, while the other 2/3 attend Wurtland Middle School. Its kind of an odd setup how the Greenup teams are arranged.
