Western 41
New Boston 62
NB led 19-9 after 1, NB led 28-24 at the half. NB led 48-34 after three.
Western was led by Colton Lightle with 17 points, including 2 three pointers. He was followed by Brady Lambert with 8 and Bryan May with 7. Chandler Grooms, Dustin Humphrey and Travis Tong also made it into the scoring column.
New Boston was led by Mohr with 20. Buckley with 17 and Griffin with 14. Vernier, Cook and Raines also made it into the scoring column.
My boys played well and very hard. I just think that we ran out of gas down the stretch. The pace of the game was fantastic. 104 total points in a junior high game is a good amount. New Boston has a good group of 8th graders and will be a handful once they get into high school.
Western will Host Jackson on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup. Western will then play Jackson again on Thursday in a make-up game at Jackson.

East 8th grade came back from 17 points down to beat Clay. There was 60 plus fouls called in the game. I dont remember how many fouled out. The seventh grade lost to Clay, and Clay girls beat the East girls.
When the 4th period started East was down 13. They won by 5 or 6 points.

I was told that ND's 7th grade beat Green's 7th grade by more than 60. I was also told ND ran a full court press for most all of the game. Is this true and if so, why would someone do that?

BlindWhiteHat, that is not what happened in the ND vs Green 7th grade game. The Press was called off late in the 2nd Quarter and never put back on again.

Beast, that is so strange to hear because I have heard from several other people that the press was kept on the majority of the game.

New Boston Junior High Boys defeated the Clay Panthers today.

Re: SOC scores for boys
ND picks up two wins at Western on Thurs. ND will travel to Eastern to play in a 7th and 8th grade Tourney which starts Thursday Feb 19th.
Re: SOC scores for boys
Why is Notre Dame avoiding the real competition? They should walk through the tournament up at Eastern. Even Clay has the guts to play true top rank teams at South Webster, why not N.D.?
Re: SOC scores for boys
Notre Dame has made phone calls the last two years trying to get into the soc tourney at Webster but were told that we would be the first one called if there were any cancellations. I was told that Clay takes the place for Waverly which does not make the trip to Webster for the regular season or the post season tourney. I was also told that the reason Clay is chosen too was because they almost always have both a 7th and 8th grade boys and girls team. FYI Jake, we did scrimmage Minford and West and teams like Chillicothe, Waverly, and Jackson are playing in the Eastern tourney along with Eastern, Western, and Notre Dame.

Re: SOC scores for boys
I have heard the same thing about ND not being let into the tourney at Webster.
Jake the tourney at Eastern is not that bad at all. Always some good competition.
In the 7th grade, Notre Dame should be the best team there, but Chillicothe and Waverly are always very good. Eastern, Jackson, and Westerns 7th grade teams are improving but not on the level of the other three teams yet. Should be some interesting matchups with some great compeition.
The competition at the 8th grade level should be great. Eastern is a very good team, coming into the tourney with only one loss. Notre Dame is also a very good team, they are the only team to beat Eastern this season. Jackson is a very athletic team that will cause trouble for anyone. They pressure the ball very well and will give anyone in this tourney fits. Have not seen Waverly or Chillicothe, but last time I checked Waverly and Chilli always seem to produce good athletes, and I do not see why that would change this year. Western is improving and can compete with anyone in the tourney. We play Eastern to a 7 point a game at our place, and played Jackson to a 9 point game at Jackson.
Should be very interesting with some great matchups and great competition. However the most important thing is that the kids have fun and continue to learn how to play basketball, after all that is what the junior high level is about.

8th Grade:
Notre Dame won their 1st round game at Eastern....But I would not say they walked thru it....
They beat Chillicothe in overtime. Notre Dame banked a 3 in as time expired in overtime to win the game 37-35.
This tourney looks very competitive to me....JMO
Also in the 1st round in the 2nd game Jackson defeated Waverly & this was also a game which went into overtime.
