Okay, but why the travel? Four teams for the distance, I wish Clay or some other SOC I school would hold a solid tournament for all teams.

Actually there are 6 teams in the tourney @ Eastern Pike:
Eastern
Western
Notre Dame
Jackson
Waverly
Chillicothe

Eastern & Notre Dame 8th grade teams both only had 1 loss this season & it was to each other....Eastern lost @ Notre Dame & Notre Dame lost @ Eastern.
Include the other 4 teams in the mix & I think it is a very nice & very competitive tourney.

There are six 7th grade teams as well.

I have spoken with the coaches & AD's from a few of the schools involved & not one has said a bad word about the tourney.
They each say it is a very nice tourney with excellent fans following each team. Everyone seems to really enjoy it.

It is just nice to see a school putting this together for the kids.
Each jr hi program is only aloud 3 tournament games per year. So with the SOC tourney at Webster being full each year, Eastern is doing a good thing by giving a few other teams the opportunity to play tournament basketball.

Ryan, I meant 4 teams per school. 7th & 8th girls, AND 7th & 8th boys each school. Many tournaments don't include them all.

Eastern Pike tourney:

7th Grade:
Chillicothe takes home the 3rd place trophy

8th Grade:
Notre Dame takes home the 3rd place trophy

Very classy act on all coaches part as it seemed that every player on every team seen floor time last night in each teams last games of the season.
And it was not just the last minute of the game....The coaches were running players in & out thru all 4 periods of each game.
Very nice to see....

Congrats to the Notre Dame 7th grade team on winning the Eastern Tournament. Notre Dame has a very nice team and are extremely well coached. They move the ball well in the half court, get out and fill the lanes in transition, and play great defense. I am not sure the name of their coach but he really needs commended on teaching these young men the proper fundamentals of the game.

Congrats to Eastern 8th grade and Notre Dame 7th grade on their tournament championships! Notre Dame 7th grade defeated Waverly 44-26 on Thursday evening.

Notre Dame's 7th grade finishes the season (15-0) and ND 8th grade finishes the season (16-2). Great job Titans!
