So you think I "fit in"? Does Clay play at home on 1/5? If not I may go see Burg-Minford.

Had to be a scrimmage. That would have been a good one to see. I've heard West has 2 good solid teams.

Didn't make it out to games, but glad the girls and 7th grade boys keep rolling. How bad was the 8th grade game? I think Green beat them by 16-18 last year.

Does Clay have a mandatory cancel order since school is cancelled today ? Girls 8th game vs ND was scheduled for tonight (ND is in school today) .

Last night boys told if school cancelled no game. Today all the teams were advised the games would be played at the High School starting at the regular time. Girls 8th Grade at 5pm the the 7th and 8th Grade boys games. Sure messed up a lot of plans by playing after they said they werent going to play. Will probably hurt clay playing on a bigger floor as Notre Dame used to playing on a bigger floor. No favors for the jurior high thats for sure

How does playing at the high school effect them? They play on bigger floors all the time...basically every time they go on the road...the boys should want to play at the high school...

I was told by the AD earlier in the day that the no game if no school is the normal procedure for the junior high games...but with the opponent being Notre Dame and because they felt like the road conditions had improved so much...they got permission to play tonight...he also said they played at the high school to avoid having to have fans go over either Feurt or Rosemount Hill to Rubyville and that it was either to manage the high school with no custodians at Rubyville...I would much rather have them play all their games their but I also understand why they dont...

buddy...why are you making so many excuses for the boys...

they should want to play!!! if not, then they shouldn't be on the team...

I AGREE .. AND IF THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT PLAYING ON A BIGGER FLOOR , THEY ARE OUT OF SHAPE.

Clay over ND 8th grade girls by around 10. Clay has a nice team, well coached. They have some good height, and good ballhandlers. Good BB IQ levels. ND had a rough start and very poor free throw shooting kept them from being able to get back in the game. I think ND might have missed 10-12 straight free throw attempts. They got in the double bonus but just did'nt cash in.

7th grade boys --ND was up about 15 in the 4th when I left . MD

The boys didnt complain about playing on the bigger floor. Everybody is allowed to have an opinion. I just felt it would be better to play on a floor you play on and practice on everyday like everybody else. Dont think there were a lot of excuses just playing on a bigger floor. I felt if the road were in good shape and they were what did people save 2 miles driving time. Dont know the size of al the gyms as they only have gone to east so far.

I dont feel bad for wanting every advantage for the home team. If playing on a home court helps the starters from getting exhausted the games will be more closer. Notre Dames was the better team and will probably win the league so that was not the question. I have not made any excuses for the team all year only this game. It was like playing an away game since they are never there. I wasnt the only one wondering why we played on the high school floor.

Hopefully they will win some more games. They will loose again probably notre dame and symmes valley as they are better teams and no excuses will be made. They have already done better than last years 0-16 team 4-1 is a great improvement over that. Like snowmand or sportsnut said they play on bigger floors in the league which should be all gyms not the same thats why new boston wins in a smaller gym most of the time. You play your games at home thats life so should clay>

I'm usually not one for an excuse, but I'd have to say that playing a team like ND at Rubyville would be an advantage. I don't buy the out of shape thing because first of all Clay only has I counted 7 players, and one of the starters #33 went down early, but came back about 2/3 speed with a knee problem. Plus you can only run a straight line so much, (small floor-big floor) but Clay practices and plays there. As for myself, I came from a school with a big floor. When we had to play against New Boston for example, we were a team more adjusted to spreading the defense out to get cutters, and pick and roll points against the man to man. But it was like all of us walking out of a bus into a closet. Sort of an athletic claustrophobia (spelling) so to speak. To me both Clay teams looked uncomfortable on the big floor, maybe a practice on it to prepare for the game could have helped. The 8th grade played a fantastic half court defense but wow, no offense and way too many turnovers, plus the speed difference was BIG. I hope they learned some things from it. I got to meet coach Compton after the game and he didn't make any excuses, he said he didn't prepare the boys well enough to play this game. I like his attitude, even though it looks like Clay is behind in talent he blamed himself for the losses.

I would actually say Clay had an advantage playing at the high school. If they had been at Rubyville the ND press might have caused them to turn the ball over even more than they did. If you can't get the ball across half court on a "bigger" floor, then you aren't going to do it on a smaller floor with more bodies and arms in the way. Ask the opponets who have had to play in the old Wheelersburg MS gym. The extra space actually helped them with passing lanes, etc. The only difference, the boys had to pass it further,, had to dribble a few more time, had to run a little more.

The floor, the lack of practice time at the high school didn't have anything to do with the final result. Besides, the boys actually have practiced at the high school at times. Give Notre Dame the credit. They were definately the better team.

A plus:the fans, officials, cheerleaders were much more comfortable with the extra space. There had to be 200+ people there last night. That would have made for a hot uncomfortable Rubyville gym.

If I'm a player or a parent, I would want to play at the high school any chance I could get even if I never practiced there.
