NCAA designating 7th graders as prospects??
Has anyone seen that in the paper? If it is going to happen, it is going to make coaching at the Jr. High level in worse....parents who already think their kids are the best are going to be pressuring the coach for that player to player more and longer...be featured more..any thoughts???? It is kind of like the kid from Indiana that Bobby Knight said was the best point guard he had seen at 6th grade level, he went to Indiana but did not really blossom like projected????

Pretty soon we will be looking at 3rd graders as future college greats. Ridiculous!!! People continue to put more and more pressure on kids at a younger age. Obviously, this will cause even more stress on kids because of parents who will then force their kids into more and more tournaments and AAU junk at an even younger age.

Sorry to disagree with you slam dunk, but I really wouldn't regard AAU as junk. I do agree with you and falconfan though in regard to the whole thing about 7th graders being NCAA prospects as junk.

Sorry, no offense, I just have never been a big fan of AAU but that is a discussion for another topic.

I agree that AAU is at times intense, but it is a situation that kids are playing to play and where GBA states the players come to play....I wish we would have had it available to us in the 80's. It is a very good tool for those players who are advanced beyone just playing pick up, especially those kids in rural areas...but you still don't know what a player is going to do from Jr. High to High School, quit growing, lose interest, like some just not work that hard, boyfriend or girlfriend issues...you just don't know...kids need to work on their game and yes if you have potential be told, but at that level is just potential, alot of work still needs to be done...
