Re: RIVER BOWL
For everyones info, there was a meeting tonight ,and it was very informative!Everyone that attended had a valid point to add.I personally enjoyed getting together with the group of men that came.We need to get the guys from up the river to attend the next meeting;if we can't get these guys to attend this thing will not happen.I am sure that nobody wants to have a 4 team tourny.I'm very excited about this, lets make sure that we meet up within the next 7-10 days to nail this baby down!

Re: RIVER BOWL
I couldn't attend but if I did I could only speak for Fairland. Marty is hard to get hold of sometimes so in my opinion you would have to talk directly with the teams involved. The biggest drawback for tsyfl will be the fact that all their teams can't be involved from d to a. Also we use officials from the river cities officials association. I'm sure these are minor obstacles that can be worked out but I hope it can be. I hope this goes through.

Re: RIVER BOWL
Well here was some of the topics and suggestions from the meeting.
Teams will consist of:
2 Ky teams
2 Ohio teams
4 TSYFL teams- due to 18 teams in their league... The BOWL will take the top 2 teams from each division in the TSYFL. I dont know how they are broken down over there but this is the proposal.
RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS.
1. Backs can not weigh over 135.
2. Players can not be 13 before Aug 1st. 12 and under by Aug 1st this year.
3. 2 refs from each football league to be present for the games, working a mixed crew for the games.
Game seeding will be by blind draw before the tourney, 1-8, each team will draw a number from the hat and will be placed on the board. This will seed the play-offs for the first round... Then it goes as follows:
Tenative schedule
First round will be at Rock Hill on Saturday Novemer 1st.
Game 1 @ 12:00pm
Game 2 @ 1:30 pm
Game 3 @ 3:00 pm
Game 4 @ 4:30 pm
Semi-Finals will be at Coal Grove on Tuesday November 4th:
Game 1 @ 6:00pm
Game 2 @ 7:30pm
Championship game will be Saturday November 8th at Coal Grove time TBA.
As we talk right now we felt that it would be more beneficial for the TSYFL to be able to bring 4 teams as they have more in their league than Ohio or Kentucky.
This expansion will also negate the need for a BYE game or a Texas Flip to decide the Championship game.
As coaches, we may have our differences and we may talk smack on here and sometimes not see eye-to -eye. But one thing was proven yesterday at the meeting.. This is for the kids !!! and hopefully from here on out we can look forward to this in the future.......
Great meeting and glad to meet you guys...
Lets get this ready... to go !!!!

Re: RIVER BOWL
From what I understand, the OVC teams have to weigh their backs and a secretary has their weights on record. This is done for all kids from what I understand.. Now for the TSYFL they also have to meet certain weight restrictions so theres will be on file also.. Now that just leaves the Kentucky teams with the issue of weighing in.
I suggest that this can be done a couple of ways... We can send in the weights with our presidents signature on the form or we can weigh in with a coach from another league.. This would be the easiest way to get these on file. I know that I can contact a coach from the OVC and get my kids weighed in and get his signature on the weigh form.. This will then be sent to the Secretary for the oVC to keep on file.. I can prolly get this completed by next week depending on availability of the OVC coach.
Please give your thoughts on this matter..

Re: RIVER BOWL
PLease explain?? What will??? having another coach from another league be at a weigh in? or what ...... If you suggest that we all weigh in on the day of the game we can do that too. I dont care about that. All I am saying is that Kentucky has no weight limit rules at this level and will need to go on record as everybody else has.. if this wont work , then what do you suggest????
I am willing to hear all sides of the issue.

Re: RIVER BOWL
I think that what he is getting at is that the kids were weighed in at the beginning of the year. Some kids have gone up in weight others have lost. This was discuussed previous to you showing up last night.I agree that we don't want a child to have to eat nothing in the days leading up to this trying to make weight,as I stated last night, but I think that at the next meeting we have we should go more in depth with what we are going to do with the weight limit, and the weigh ins!I thought about the format that was discussed, and I'm not sure that I would agree that it would be fair to all that are involved.I did agree to this last night, but I would like to bring it back up when we meet again!

Re: RIVER BOWL
I believe that the issue was settled yesterday. Devilologist you can weigh when you want if you can get in touch with the ovc coach you were referring to.

Re: RIVER BOWL
I think that yesterday was just getting this off the ground, that being said with the number of people that are involved if we can get everyone to show up to next meeting,if there is anything that can't be agreed upon then it would seem to me that it would be a majority rules vote, with each team having one vote.We don't have a league to govern this just a group of adults that are trying to pull this event together for the kids.If everyone keeps the kids in mind we can pull this off without a hitch. Can't wait to meet with you guys again!!!

Re: RIVER BOWL
Now that we're backup.........Let's plan on a meeting in the next week! Maybe even Sunday...We need to get some reps from the tsyfl involved or we got to plan this around them?Hate to be an a$$,but if they want to be part of this than they need to show up!Lets plan on BW'S IRONTON 3:00 SUNDAY.....iF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT THEN PUT IT OUT THERE,SO THE SAME GROUP OF GUYS DON'T DISCUSS THE SAME TOPICS!This was not brought up to be betwwen C-G,RR_D,AND ,R-H.If only the 3 of us show up for the next meeting,I suggest that we have a shoot out at the end of the season...........So far these 3 teams are the tops in the general locale....STILL LOOKING FOR ANSWERS.............MEETING SUNDAY AT 3:00 TO PUT THE FINAL TOUCHES TO THIS???????????????????????

Re: RIVER BOWL
Ok after reading this thread 1000 times I finally read the dates and it sunk in. That is the weekend of TSYFL turf bowl. That doesnt mean you cant invite the top 2 teams that don't go to the turf. I honestly believe there is at least 2 teams that wont make it to the turf that could compete but I could be wrong. Anyway it would have been fun.And you guys have learned a valuble lesson, never pay attention to dates discussed by a senile old man(me)
. Anyways good luck to all.
