Re: Burg 7th grade boys
I wish they would go back... I don't think that a student should transfer to another school just for sports. They need to play where they go to school. That proves that they are not dedicated if they just walk away from their fellow classmates and teammates to go play elsewhere. They took the place of not 1 but 4 of the wheelersburg kids that have went to school there all their lives. Wheelersburg has enough talent in the school system that they need not to bring in from the outside. That says to me also that wheelersburg doesn't have much faith in their student body.

Wheelersburg Schools Philosophy
Vision: Our school will provide an inviting, safe environment where ALL children are actively engaged in the learning process
Mission: We are here to read, learn and communicate in a positive manner.
Motto: Pirate Pride
Be Prepared; Show Respect for others; Only positive Interactions; be self-Disciplined and ALWAYS Encourage others.
As a decision making member of the McBee household I want to reply to "the ladypiratefan". Ladypiratefan you seem to know more about why we moved than we do ourselves when in fact, you know very little. Sports would never be a reason that I would move my kids from a school system that they have been a part of. Moving was not easy for my children. We, as Christians, have always taught our children that we should love everyone and treat everyone with respect. We, however, also have to teach our children that there will be people in life that do not do the same. We also teach that there are others who will attempt to break your spirit with words and/or actions that are not kind and that they will have to turn the other cheek and be a better person. LadyPirateFan you know nothing about my family and/or why we reasoned to move. But this will be the first and last comment that I make regarding this issue because it is really no ones concern. My children will get where they are because of their hard work, determination and SKILL. They will not reach the top because of any other reason. Our kids try out for a team just like all the others and make it because of these things. We informed our kids prior to their first day of school that we knew we would reach some resistance with people as we are all human. I, however, have seen very little resistance and I thank the people of Wheelersburg for that. I have seen nothing but respect from the people in Wheelersburg. I thank them for being so kind, accepting and gracious to our children. However, there are those that for reasons unknown cannot fatham the thought that their will be children who move into their school system and recieve fair treatment. Outrageous. My kids will continue to hold their heads high and show pirate pride.

McBee's parents are top notch. Competetion is fair and is what life is about. These 4 kids transferred in the 7th grade. They have plenty of time to get involved at WB. Why not be glad that you have them. We would be very happy to have them back here.

Transferring is a fact now with open enrollment and it's not something that I think is going to stop. Transferring your kids for whatever reason is your business. Not agreeing with it is also your business but getting on here bashing the kids for not being dedicated to their team/school is not acceptable. You can disagree with the parents, you can even not like the parents but leave the 12 and 13 year old kids out of it. I don't know many parents who allow their 7th and 8th graders to make decisions like this themselves.

I didn't think you had to live in the district as long as it is the school you start in in the 9th grade. Is that right?

Re: Burg 7th grade boys
Anyone ever stop to think that just maybe they moved to the Wheelersburg school district because of their excellence in academics? Wheelersburg is almost always at the top of the list when the scores for state testing are announced every year and that would be an incentive to move my children there if they weren't already going to school there. My son will be a senior at the Burg this year and is being recruited by Ohio State for his academics because of the excellent teaching he has recieved at the Burg. He played sports up until his freshman year but then decided to concentrate on his school work and grades and find himself a job and I couldn't be more prouder of him for his decisions. Sports aren't everything and a very few of these so called "stars" in Jr high and high school will ever see a field or a court in college. Some of these parents better get their priorities straight and quit worrying about whether little Johnny or Jill can hit a fastball and worry about their education because that is what is going to ultimately get them through life.
Just my two cents, for what it's worth.
