These are 4 of the best 7th grade teams around and I believe all 4 are undefeated so far this season or if not close..I would love to see these 4 teams square off in a Tournament . From all the posts on this websight about these 4 teams it sounds like our own version of the Final Four :-D ..I know it probably will never happen but you never know if the right people read this and talk about it. Anyway Good Luck to these teams in there respectful tournaments coming up...

I think that Peebles has beat Wheelersburg in the past so unless the Burg has added other players I'd have to go with Peebles over them. I don't know about Ironton though. From what I've heard they are pretty good.

Thanks Vinton County is 9-0 with 3 more season games and a tuff post season tournament to go. Leave us with a possible 2 games to get in by 2/18.
This VC team is not the same that played last year, not one dimensional on "D" like last year. Not just a 6th grade traveling team, a team combined of all the boys in the county. Very strong 9 deep. Just about every game 11 0f 12 score, still trying to get full roster in the book in a single game.
I knew some of these boys (VC) about 3 hours and took them down to the wire with Peeples back in a summer shootout at Nelsonville.
Maybe something can happen?

I could be wrong but I heard that Peebles beat Vinton County over the summer by at least 15 both games they played.

I got the score sheet first game was 47-43 peebles.
Second game was 49-42 peebles.
16 minute running clock (2halfs) except in last two-mminutes.
Lot of offense anyway you look at it.
They beat NY 7th grade by 15 the only other score on this sheet of a game in which we didn't play.
VC 7th won every game they played except 2 vs Peebles.

Burg had a few transfers from Minford this year, and they also have a great team, they also have a strong bench. They play very well as a team and are very talented on both offense and defense. They have put up 50 to 60 pts a game on a regular basis and held most teams under 35 all year... Good Luck to all of these teams in there quest to go undefeated in regular season and tournament time..It sounds like these 4 schools will have a strong group of kids coming up to the next level

Who were the transfers from Minford? Minford had a guard in elementary school that had red/blonde hair and was a pretty good player. Is he one of them?

McBee: Burg's best player, Cowgill and two other guys that don/t play a lot.

The boy you are talking about is Austin McBee, and yes he was one of them.

Unless you've seen them all that is an ignorant statement. I know that Ironton and Wheelersburg scrimmaged and Ironton seemed to play better but that was only a scrimmage. I'm sure they've improved since then. I'd like to see these teams all get together if they are truly that good but I'd never go so far as to say I know who'd win.

How deep are other teams bench's? Burg could go 2 deep and not miss a beat..

Not going to happen.
AD's will not allow them to play after tourny's.
Only can have one tournament is what I was told.
I argued if there would be no entry fee to play it's not a touranment.
Only allowed 17 total games for the season including post season.
VC is 10-0 with 2 gmes left NY @ home (won 49-34 @ NY) and @ Wellston (won 62-34 last night 1/31 @ VC).
Will have missed 2 games unless somehow can makeup game with Meigs in Rock Springs, they will never be played.
"Burg has 13 plus South Webster Tourny which will have the Pirates with too many games anyway. Peebles will only play 15 too, and I dont know about Ironton.
There is going to be a 2-day shootout in Lancaster over the summer, maybe all of these teams could enter along with Fairfield Union who also is unbeaten?
Nice thought. Basketball is going to be great in SE Ohio for a few more years!

Thanks! There are some tough teams in our tourney.
Trimble folks are great people, and the school puts on a fine touramnet.
Maybe next year we could have a middle school tournament? The new middle school is adjacent to the high school if 2 gyms were needed.
I wish all the area teams the best of luck now and in the future.
I can't even think of any common opponents to compare the teams with.
Just that we played Pebbles at NY shootout last year with an unprepaired team, that played well.
