Basketball is over and track is just around the corner

2011 7th Grade OVC Track meet results were

1. South Point 145
2. Rock Hill 93
3. Fairland 86
4. Coal Grove 73
5. Chesapeake 65
6. River Valley 35

I know alot of the SP kids have been working out on their own and some even went to some indoor meets. I just hope the weather turns warm and we don't get our winter in March.

I am anxious to see the track season get underway. There is so much physical change between 7th and 8 graders. SOmr have gotten way bigger and stronger. I know CG lost a trackster to Fairview who probably gave them 25 points, but they have some athletes in the 7th grade who might fill the gap. I heard most all of the Pointers are back and add in the 7th graders and we should be fine again!

South Point's first track meet of the 2012 season is the Rock Hill Invitational next Thursday 3/29. I am anxious to see if the same boys are out from last year and what the 7th graders are bringing to the table. South Point will be very fast in the sprints with the current 8th graders and the 7th graders who came outI hope they can repeat as champions in 7th and 8th grade.

on boys side, rh looks pretty good but sp is as dominant as i've seen a middle school team. fairland is the same on the girls side. it's been a while since i've seen a sprinting boys team like sp this year. in terms of speed, they got it, keeping true to the sp reputation. looks like distance is another story.

South Point has won the RH Invite, Oak Hill Invite and Gallia Invite. Keep it up boys !!! We placed in every event @ Gallia except for the 800 and 1600. Distance runners we are not .....sprints, middle distance and field events are where we get our points!

South Point Boys actually went undefeated this year winning every single meet they competed in, Rock Hill Invitational, Oak Hill Invitational (24teams!), AHC Invitational, CG Giovanni's Relays, South Point Invitational, Galia Invitational and the OVC Championship. They also won all the open meets they competed in. The seventh grade competed by themselves only once in the 7th grade Ovc and won conference runner up with only 8 guys competing..managing to get 103 points. This is a great group of kids with, this year they won the conference in Football(undefeated), Basketball, and Track(undefeated). SP OVC meet winners, Wagoner(Long Jump, 400m, 800M (High Point)), Palladino(100m, 200M), Marlowe(poll vault), 4x200(Damron, Palladino, Murnahan, Dillow(OVC Record)), 4X400(Kratzenburg, Murnahan,Kounlavong,Exline)
