No Vinton County isn't done for the year. We played 5 games in 5 days and did not have the arms to pitch. We only have 3 pitchers anyways, 4 at most. The coaching staff just felt that it wasn't worth hurting a player's arm or putting someone on the mound who has never been there before. (We didn't want the circus to start!) We're well-rested now and ready to play!

Ok. I was just wondering because NY gets half their games rained out.. We would love to be able to play 5 games in 5 days. We have only played 7 games do to the weather and 3 of the games that we did get in were played in the rain. We got rained out saturday and then sunday the weather is great and we have no games on the schedule.

Waverly's Junior High team consists of a combination of 7th and 8th Graders...9 cuts were made during try-outs. We would love to have two teams, but without the school affiliation, it is too hard to raise that kind of money!

Waverly takes on Hillsboro tonight in the first round of the Playoffs...6:00pm at Bristol Park in Waverly.

Waverly finished the regular season with a record of 7-3.

Does anyone know anything about this Hillsboro squad?

How many teams are in Lawrence County? any OVC schools have teams. Sp is looking at fielding a team or two next year. I was just wondering on the travel aspect of it? How far and such?

Vinton County's 8th grade team picked up a win last friday by beating Wellston 14-3 in 5 innings.
Curtis Rose pitched a complete game 3-hitter with no earned runs.

It looks to me like VC is a solid team. They just need to limit their mistakes and they will be fine.

BTW Ny's 8th grade won 4 last week with wins vs. VC - Trimble - and 2 vs. Alex!
