Who are the players to look out for next year. Remember, they are one year closer to being a high school player.
Which teams might compete to win the tournament at the end of the season.

The Minford 7th Grade girls played great at the SSU JV Shootout!! They finished with a record of 4-4, and they are a true 7th grade team, and to finish with 4 wins, that is remarkable, these girls are definitely a team to watch out for...Go Lady Falcons

West has a good 7th grade team and the 8th grade were co-champs last year. Minford's 7th graders are very good and the 8th grade was the other co-champs last year. Based on the 7th grade teams from the other schools as they are now and barring any transfers, I think the main competition will be between Minford and West. Oakhill has a good 8th grade team that should compete well and they have some good players on the 7th grade team but you will see a lot of new faces on the 7th grade team that have never played with the rest of the team. Goodluck to all teams.

I agree. Minford and West have good 7th and 8th grade teams. Goodluck to Minford this year. Here's to a successful and injury free season.

I agree. I would have to give the edge to the West 8th grade team, they were undefeated last year as 7th grade. They were to play a tournament championship game with Minford and it was cancelled and never played due to weather, but West had beat them during regular season.

I know they're not part of the SOC but the Peebles 7th grade girls' team is loaded this year. I don't know their schedule but I really hope they get a chance to play and/or scrimmage some SOC schools. I would guess that this team will be one of, if not the best, in our area this year.

The Peebles team has some very good players that played AAU this year. They had a very good team. Some of the top players from that team were from KY. Too bad because together they were awesome to watch.

Out of area you would also have to include the 7th grade girls team from Jackson.

The seventh grade team from Jackson is a good group as well and they have three or four really solid players. Peebles played them twice last year in a tournament at the Jackson YMCA and beat them by double figures each game.
Four of Peebles 7th graders played on the Southern Ohio Magic AAU team and with those girls from Maysville, KY on it they had a pretty solid squad and ended up second in the state in the 11u AAU State Tournament behind the WV Thunder who also played out of Ohio at that age group.
Peebles has played West several times over the last couple of years and they do have a good group of 7th graders. It sounds like West and Minford are the top teams this year in the SOC in this grade.

If I remember correctly, West 7th grade last year was very physical and seemed to know how to play the game. Not sure of their record, but if they are all back this year then they are the team to beat.
Valley seemed to have a nice team with some height on them. Some athletic talent and good coaching.
Oak Hill had a very good 8th grade team last year, but the 7th grade team didn't compare. I'd say they will be competitive but nothing like last years group.
South Webster should be competitive also. Many of the girls last year on the 8th grade team were 7th graders (due to lack of 8th graders participating). Alot of girls with playing experience.
Minford had a very nice finish last year on the 7th grade team. I believe they won 6 out of their last 7, or something like that. Nice athletic girls who play the game hard.
Burg had a couple of players, but the 7th grade team of last year seemed like a down year for them. But I expect them to compete hard. They always do!!!!
Northwest 7th grade was down last year, so I'd say it will be the same this year with the 8th grade.
Not sure about Clay, East, N.D., and New Boston.
Good luck to all teams!!
