Gallipolis 8th grade tops Meigs, 40-8

Gallipolis’ 8th grade football team defeated visiting Meigs, 40-8, on Memorial Field Thursday evening. The game was played in 92-degree temperature.

The Little Blue Devils led 16-0 after one period, 32-0 at halftime, and 40-0 after three quarters.

Nick Clagg scored Gallia’s first touchdown on a 33-yard run wit 6:28 left in the initial canto. Jacob Shockey ran the two-point conversion.

Luke Pullins scored the next Blue Devil touchdown on a 39-yard run with 20 seconds left in the quarter. Jacob Shockey ran the two-point conversion to make it 16-0.

In the second period, Nick Clagg raced 40 yards to make it 22-0 with 6:10 left in the half. Shockey added the two-point conversion to make it 24-0.

Nick Clagg ran for a 21-yard touchdown with 1:30 left in the half. Pullins added the two-point conversion to make it 32-0 at halftime.

With 5:20 left to play, Nick Clagg scored from 30 yards out with Pullins adding the two-point conversion.

Boyer then scored for Megs with 4:05 left to play, and added the two-point conversion to complete the game's scoring.

It was the season opener for both teams.

Gallipolis will travel to Logan on Sept. 11 for its next outing.
