JUST WONDERING......please answer!!

At the beginning of the season we had such a rough start. Our RH teams were eventually split into 2 teams. We were told it was the league's decision because we had too many boys. Through the past few week I have noticed that all the other teams have anywhere from 28 to 35 players on one team. If we would have stayed together we would have had 33. Can any one explain to me why the league would make us do this??? Or was this someone else's decision??
Thank you for any info.
Congratulations CG on your GREAT season!
Good luck to all teams in the play-offs!!!

I think your total was closer to 60 including all the "c"team boys and that is why they decided to split. As far as I know nothing was said by the teen ovc board we were just told (by RH)that RH was going to split and the schedule had to be revised. The teen ovc doesn't officially recognize a "c" team they are all part of the bteam( the jv squad if you want to call them that) You might want to talk to whoever makes the decisions for your league to find out what happened. I think there probably would have been a lot of parents complaining about kids not getting playing time on b or c team if you hadn't split. But I would check with your people in charge.

I'm not in charge, but I think I can shed some light on this. With the huge # of kids that signed up the board thought that it would be better for the kids, and they would have fewer parents complaining about johnny getting little or no playing time!It may seem like a bad deal now,but in a few years when these kids come together as one group there will be plenty of experience, and a lot of fighting for positions. In the end it was they only thing that they could do with such a large #,and it will be beneficial.

A question I would ask you is wouldn't you rather see 22 kids from Rock Hill playing at 1 time as compared to 11?
I know people hang hats on these championships won at these levels but,by playing 22 only makes you better in the long run.You might not "win" as many as the next guy but it will help out with the end result.Im sure the High School coach would love the idea.
I know being from Ironton we will have 2 unless we can field 3.

Thanks for all the input....
We have just been told so many different stories and yes we were told the leauge would make us split. Our boys have had a wonderful time this season but the only thing is if you have an injury or 2 it sure puts you in a bind. Have any of the other big teams (CG, IB, IE, OH) thought of doing this so all the kids will have a chance to play?????
Again, thanks so much for the answers!!!!

I-B,I-E have split every year that i have been around the league.
Last year was the first time that i have seen ironton have a single team, and i think it was a-team only, due to small numbers.I-E a team had only two or three on the sidelines a couple weeks back.I have only seen R-H,I-E,I-B, split the teams up to insure that all kids will have an oppurtunity to play.I personally only know of R-H doing twice, could be more i really don't know.

^^^The league doesn't have the split rule, but if you go to the league meeting to turn in your roster with 60 kids on it i would guess that they would probaly take it to a vote and put the split rule back in.JMO

We started the season with 30 + kids with only 6 4th graders. Now we are down to 25 I do believe and we have arranged for several "C" games to make sure all kids get playing time. If it was as easy as baseball that would be wonderful. Hope that answers some of your question and Good Luck to all in the Playoffs.
