West scrimmaged ND last night. West was definetly stronger and more experienced than ND. ND attempted a press and West shredded it with proper spacing, quick passing and just a great understanding of where to be. Coaches are doing a very good job and the girls obviously have worked hard. This is still pre-season and they looked sharp.

West is going to be strong at both the 7th and 8th grade levels. several nice players to aide Leader who is a real player. They shoot the 3 well also. Nice to see a group of young ladies who understand the game and have committed themselves to it.

Peebles boys scrimmage at Piketon Saturday morning. Vinton County will be there also. This should be a good opportunity for some of the Peebles kids to step up and perform well since they will be without a couple of key players in this scrimmage.

Peebles girls scrimmage at Waverly on Saturday morning then scrimmage again on Monday at West.

THE WEST UNION WESTENR SCRIMMARE went well west union showed great improvement from last year that says alot for the kids and coaches work effort. western shows glimpses of being a good deffensive team and were led in scoreing by there big 3 LIGHTLE,LAMBERT,and MAY they need the other kids to shoot the ball when open and keep there deffensive intesity up for 4 quarters but lack of depth plays a role in to this problem i fear but time will tell i think western will be moe competitive this year but id say every one has improved as well so we need to out work them i beleave to have a good year

Wheelersburg and North Adams 7th and 8th Grade Girls scrimmaged this morning.

In the 7th Grade, both teams struggled early to find their offense. After the slow start, Wheelersburg jumped out to a 10 point lead (14-4); however, the Lady Devils fought back and got within 3 (16-13). The scrimmage ended with the Pirates winning 20-13. NA improved throughout in running their offense; they worked extremely hard on the defensive end and fought hard on the boards and for loose balls.

In the 8th Grade scrimmage, North Adams was able to cause the Pirates some trouble with their press defense. This led to several easy baskets for the Lady Devils. North Adams ended up with 34-9 decision.

Overall, this was a productive scrimmage for all teams and they look forward to the start of the regular season.

This sounds like a pretty good scrimmage for both teams in playing someone you won't see during the regular season. The North Adams 8th grade team has some very solid players and should have a good season in the SHL. Evidently, the North Adams 7th grade team got better as the day went along. I hear the 7th grade coach at North Adams is a prodigy of Coach Barrick at Wheelersburg. If so, expect to have defense and rebounding pounded into your practices from Day 1.
