Gallia Junior High boys wins two from Meigs

Visiting Gallia Gallia Academy Junior High school defeated Meigs in a doubleheader Wednesday evening in the Meigs Middle School gym.

In the first outing, the Little Blue Devils won 47-17. In the nightcap. the eighth graders pulled out a hard-earned 58-52 triumph. It was the season opener for both squads.

Brian Williams popped in 14 points and Teran Barnitz13 for the Gallia 7th graders. D. Blankenship and J. Hutton each had seven points for the Little Marauders.

Gallipolis led 5-2, 12-4 and 35-16 at the quartermarks. GAHS outscored MJHS 12-1 in the final quarter.

In the nightcap, Nick Clagg paved the way for GAJHS with 20 markers. Cody Call popped in 14 and Jim Clagg 11 for the Little Blue Devils.

D. Bolen paced Meigs with 13 points. D. Uberick pitched in 12.

Gallipolis led 13-12 after one period. The Gallians were on top, 29-19 during intermissiion, but Meigs started the third period with an 8-0 run to cut the margin to 29-27. After a 35-35 tie late in the third period, Gallia led 42-36 after three quarters.

In a nip-and tuck fourth quarter, both teams tallied 16 points to make the final score 58-52.

Both the 7th and 8th grade Gallipolis teams will travel to Chesapeake Thursday evening for another twinbill in the Chesapeake Middle School gym, next to the main CHS gym. The 7th grade game begins at 5:30 p.m.
