Gallipolis 7th, 8th graders trip Chillicothe

Visiting Gallipolis defeated Chillicothe’s 7th and 8th grade teams in a twinbill at the Chillicothe Middle School Thursday evening.

In the opener, the GAHS 7th graders handed Chillicothe its first loss of the year, 37-24 to post their fifth victory against no setbacks. In the nightcap, Gallipolis downed the CHS 8th graders, 41-25.

Gallipolis 7th grade, now 5-0, trailed 7-4 after one quarter and 15-11 during intermission. The Little Blue Devils outscored the home team 17-4 in the third stanza to take a 28-19 lead into the final period.

For Gallipolis, Brad Williams tallied 12 points Terhan Barnitz added eight, Wade Jarrell five and Reid Eastman four. Johnson led CHS with 12. R. Knisley added six and N. Taylor five.

In the nightcap, led 9-3, 19-12 and 35-19 at the quartermarks.

For Gallipolis, now 4-1, Justin Bailey led the way with 11 points. Jim Clagg added 10, Bobby Dunlap five and T. J. McCalla four. T. Beverly and D. Bickles each had six for the Cavs, now 1-4.

Both GAHS coaches Gary Harrison and Jim Niday cleared their benches in the twin triumph.

Gallipolis will host Chesapeake’s 7th and 8th graders in their next outing on the Washington hardwood Monday, Dec. 22.
