Gallipolis 7th, 8th graders sweep Chesapeake

Post by jottings »

Host Gallipolis defeated visiting Chesapeake’s junior high teams on the Washington School hardwood Monday evening.

In the opening game, the GAHS 7th graders remained unbeaten with a 50-32 victory over Chesapeake. In the nightcap, the GAHS 8th graders avenged their only season defeat by turning back the previously unbeaten Chesapeake 8th graders, 36-26.

The Gallia 7th graders improved to 6-0. CHS fell to 3-4. The Gallipolis 8th graders are now 5-1, same as the CHS 8th graders. (Chesapeake handed visiting Gallipolis a 28-19 setback earlier this month at Chesapeake).

Gallipolis will be idle until the Little Blue Devils travel to Pt. Pleasant on Monday, Jan. 5.

In Monday’s opener, Gallipolis led 15-8, 31-18 and 41-23 at the quartermarks.

For Gallipolis Brian Williams tallied 14 markers and Wade Martin 10. Terhan Barnitz added eight points, Wade Jarrell and Logan Allison scored six apiece. J. Guff led Chesapeake with seven points.

In the nightcap, Gallipolis led 10-4, 21-10, and 30-15 at the quartermarks.

Justin Bailey led Gallipolis with 12 points. Cody Call added 11. N. Duffield led CHS with eight points. N. Jones added seven.
