The 7th grade was close all the way -- tied at half time and then down the stretch Northwest was able to pull away and get some lay-ups and second shots. They have some big kids at the 7th grade level. I thought Tyler Fenner finished well around the basket and Spencer Kelley made some nice diagonal passes to Fenner against the 1-3-1 Northwest zone.

The 8th grade game was all Peebles as the Indians got out to a 16-2 lead early and were very effective with the press. Trent Arey anticipates so well in the press and gets a lot of steals and then Peebles converts those steals quickly into easy baskets.
McAdow continues to look solid and plays well with and without the ball. Another good team effort with a lot of players making solid contributions in the win.

On a side note, it's great to see a former player of mine, Josh Keeney, coaching the 8th grade Northwest Mohawks. He's a great person and very hard worker and will be a good coach. Right now his players need a little work, but will get better as the season goes along and will get some wins. Peebles was probably the toughest team on the schedule and it's tough to have to play them over Christmas break.

You must not have seen Peebles 8th grade play and the ONLY team in the SOC II that can compete with them is Wheelersburg. Northwest does NOT play Wheelersburg this year for some reason. I DO think that Peebles is the best team on Northwest's schedule.
