I've heard the 8th grade boys coach has stepped down but now I'm hearing that neither of the girls coaches will return next year. If true, who's taking over. I don't know much about the new 7th grade class but next years 8th graders are a good group of players.

I overheard some folks talking who are from Minford and they were saying that the coach that had the Junior High Girls at the beginning of the year may be coming back next year. Many of the parents thought he did a great job and want him back next year if the current coach doesn't return. Most folks say that the current coach will return next year. Whoever takes the coaching position next year will be getting an extremely talented bunch of girls! As far as the lady who helped coach I don't know anything about her except someone said she had a daughter who played on the team this year. Not sure which one it was? Haven't heard any rumors about whether she is staying or not.

So, now Minford needs:
a girls junior High 7th and 8th grade coach.
Boys junior high needs an 8th grade coach
High school needs a freshman, JV, assist and HS coach.
talk about cleaning house. I hope they get coaches who are passionate and experienced and not a pay check collector.

They will probably wait til a varsity coach is in place. Minford needs a program. Everyone has to get on the same page.

Dont want to stick my head in to much but I'll throw the name Kyle Pertuset for the junior high program. He has been with them kids since they was in pee wee. One heck of a nice guy. I believe him to be just a nice overall young, energetic coach.

I second that nomination on Kyle Pertuset. Hardworking and very committed to the kids. Minford needs to try and keep him around.

I can honestly say that Justice coached for the kids and not the money. It is a passion that he very much enjoys and has volunteered for many years at Minford. He has coached teams that never involved his own kids. I'm not saying he is or was the greatest coach by no means...only stating he did it for the kids and loves the challenge to improve each and every player. My point is...Minford may not pay what other schools are able or willing to pay but there are good coaches out there willing to coach for the same reasons...kids and not money.

coach justice has coached at many levels. he coached baseball at west for years before he had kids. so the money has nothing to do with it. just loves the game and the kids. minford will miss a coach like him.

Now sportsfan9572, why would kids be leaving a quality school like Minford just because of a basketball coach or two resigning? I think they will get quality people for the job(s) soon and am sure they will make a good show of it next season.

I didn't say why they left as I would never speak for anyone else and it's none of my business. But the fact remains that they are gone.

It's turned into a not-so-funny joke. Transfer from school to school in search of that college scholarship. I am sick of it, we lost one of our better kids at Clay last year, to Minford!

Bounce wrote:Marshallman, I know coach Justice coached because he loved it and loved helping the kids to become athletes. Minford lost a great coach and I know he didn't coach for the money. It will be very difficult to replace him.

Lets not take this out of context bounce. I know JR high pays nothing and most do it for the love of the game. I'm talking mostly the HS level where good money can be made. I'm also hoping Minford will not just give the JR high job to some teacher that wants the money because teachers get first denial before an outsider is offered.
