Congratulations to all of the southeastern Ohio junior high runners who ran at state.
The area was well represented with runners from Marietta, Warren, Southern, Morgan, Chillicothe, Zanesville, Gallipolis and I may had missed a few. Marietta girls also finished 2nd overall as a team. Warren's Vincent placed in pole vault and a good showing in hurdles. Marietta's Cogswell finished 2nd in pole vault and Chalfant led most of the 800. Chillicothe had a strong runner or two placing in the girls i believe. Marietta girls were just impressive overall as a team. Barton i believe won pole vaulting.
Great year for southeastern Ohio at state. If i missed any teams or any runners who may had placed etc. please reply. I kept notes on my phone throughout the meet and went off them.

I thought I heard Sierra (from Athens) finished 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 800.

Thanks Lil&BigBucksMom, I heard that this morning on the radio. It's nice that Fred Gibson reports on the Jr. High, I don't think any other schools did.

"Racine Track Club" i.e. Southern was runner-up in Mens Division 2/3 Team Rankings
Kody Wolfe and Justin Hettinger came in third and eighth in the 3200 with times of 10:34.72 and 11:24.92
Wolfe also came in seventh in the 1600 at 4:59.56
John Gray got first in the 800 at 2:09.77
Good job boys, keep it up at the next level!

Great Job by the southern coaches and kids, also believe this was Gray's first time running the 800---he did not look like it, led from start to finish, really enjoyed the race and support their team provided each other and area TVC kids running. Job well done!

The results (the link is
www.ohioyouthrunner.org) don't show heats for the 800 in Division 2/3. Judging by the numbers there, I would assume they just ran them all at the same time.

Thanks storm,
Yes, from the results it looks like they must had one heat, if so did the Marietta boy lead most of it or did Gray lead all of it ??? something isn't real clear... just wondering

There were 3 heats of the 800. Chalfant led roughly 600 of the 800 meters in one of the heats. I believe he almost fell running the last 100 or so it caught alot of peoples attention. Gray led all of his heat and ran a great race obviously to win the race overall. Gray kept a great pace throughout and it didn't seem like anyone was going to be a threat to him throughout the race.
