I have 2 grandchildren who play at Minford. It is such a joke this year with the president that they have. He has a personnal vendetta for a great coach, whom has been there for years and is there to build a softball program for high school. He is there to help any girl. It started last year when the president wasn't voted manager of the all-star team. He stated the man wouldn't coach at Minford again. He banded him from managing and then banded him for life from Minford little league, because he went to his daughters ASA softball game. Our great district 11 administrater Donnie Rollins backed him. My question is who is above Donnie Rollins that I can contact. I know I can get more names supporting the coach than the president can get to support ousting the coach. The kids and parents really like the coach. Please help. He has helped and taught my granddaughter so much.

He was vice president last year when it all started. Now he's president. He was to be an assistant coach. He was at one practice and left on vacation and didn't return until the second game of the all-stars and the manager had to replace him which upset him.

You can contact Williamsport. Go to their website
www.littleleague.org to contact them. You will have to give your name.
I don't think Donnie is to blame. This is a local rule passed by the Minford Little League Board.
Good Luck.

You can coach a regular season team as President. You can not coach an All-Star team unless their is no other person who will coach the team.

I just think this is such a shame. I know two other kids were banded from the league this year because their parent stood up for the coach at the beginning year. If your there for the kids and to build a program for high school than show it. If your on the board than stand up for the kids. Everyone knows he was a great coach and there for the kids. Come out and vote these people off the board. Everyone knows this was a personal vendetta on the presidents behalf.

I personally don't know the circumstances that went on at Minford but I can give you some background on the problems with ASA softball and Little League. This has been a growing issue for the past several seasons. Little League games being cancelled due to coaches and athletes chosing to go to an ASA game over a Little League game. This has led to several heated discussions at Little League president meetings over the past 2 years.
Last year, Glen Sagraves, the former District Administrator, recommended that each league ban any coach that chooses to participate in ASA over LL. Again, more heated discussions.
This year at a presidents meeting the option was brought up that there be no Saturday games scheduled for softball because of ASA. The reasoning was that this would eliminate the need for the girls to have to choose. All the presidents from Scioto County were there and all voted that Saturday games were to be scheduled (except for Portsmouth who voted NO to Saturday games). At that meeting ADA Gedra Penn informed all presidents that if a game was cancelled due to ASA play that the game would be forfeited. Donnie agreed with this decision.
As for the coach being banned, the leagues that have chosen to do this (Minford is not the only one from my understanding) are trying to keep LL running for all players, not just the ones playing ASA ball. This was also at the recommendation of form DA Segraves, not Donnie Rawlins.

My daughter has also played for this man and he has never been anything but wonderful. He was not allowed to coach a little league team this year (something he was told last year after the all star games were over) - his daughter never played ASA last year. He never cancelled any games this season because he was never the coach - talk to the regular coach, she has cancelled several games, and this had nothing to do with him or his daughter missing a game for ASA. And as far as Saturday games are concerned, I hate playing on Saturday and would rather all of my daughter's games be played during the week (she does not play ASA but we are considering it after this year, I want my daughter playing for people who care about her and the program).

Thank you to all that has come out to support my husband. I can't say anything else except I appreciate it because I'm afraid my daughter will also be banned for life.

I was privileged to watch the daughter of the banned Minford coach be intentionally walked this week. I think this says something for her fathers coaching.

Like I said, whoever can walk a 10 yr old kid needs banned. A coach who walks a girl that is 10 has no business in little league or even coaching. I think people have really turned ASA into something it is not. I know on our ASA team we have girls who leave ASA games to go back and play their little league games. Our coach tries very hard to schedule the games around the kids. We have enough girls to play when others have to leave and these same girls rush back for their ASA games. I have seen them leave Buffalo, WV come back to Wheelersburg and then come back for the evening game. Now that is dedication. I would love to see how many kids have really had their games forfeited because of girls going to ASA. We have 4 to 5 girls in our league and I have never seen a game forfeited. Now, I know parents/coaches get mad because they think they might lose without the girls but I've never seen a team forfeit because of it. I would not manage a team because of ASA because I think if you are the manager you should be at all games but to keep a guy from coaching and teaching kids the game is a shame. If you find someone that is compassionate about the game and the girls then you should be very thankful!!!

This man's daughter is no doubt one of the best and most consistent players in Minford little league. She usually hits the ball to the outfield (well into the green) but you have to watch out for her bunting as well. If she is playing against a team that is weak in the outfield or fielding in general she is a big threat, especially if the bases are loaded. It would be a shame for this caliber of a player to be banned, she just loves the sport and wants to play - no politics involved she is just a great player and kid.

Ya'll got some crazy stuff going on in your Little league. I am so glad we don't have those kind of things happen here.
