what's up with Burg 5th graders playing against 3rd and 4th. Field a 5th or 6th grade team for them or get out.
West 6th will beat East for the Super Bowl this year. They are loaded. As 5th graders last year they beat the 5th grade from Portsmouth badly in the playoffs and they've had several more good kids come out and a got a couple really good ones back from injury.

I guess Burg has a 3 -4-5 team against our 3rd grade teams? I have 16- 3rd graders and 4 -2nd graders on our team.

At West or Portsmouth, if you have a team with 5th graders you have to play up. But the Burg, gets to play against 3rd and 4th graders with 5th graders on the team? That is a tremendous advantage, especially when West and Portsmouth have teams consisting of all 3rd graders. It is wrong. They shouldn't be allowed to play that way. It especially should be noted on the schedule if this is the case. It should say Wheelersburg 3, 4, 5; so the other parents will know.

I coach PHS 3rd and I am friends with West 3rd grade coach and we actually have some 2nd graders . Burg said they were all 3rd and 4th but I hear otherwise. You know their going to be good athletes and well coached and if there are older boys they will be a hard load for us.

I have parents asking why we look so little compared to others and I tell them we are 2nd and 3rd and our opponents are 3,4 and 5?

It has to do with the age. Seems common practice for some schools to start "redshirting" early. All teams must bring a birth certificate when signing up. Unfortunately as far as I know I have not heard of any age restrictions in our league. Whatever grade you are in is the grade you play for. You can play up, but you cant play down. 3rd and 4th graders play against each other, and 5th and 6th graders play against each other. If a kid is in the 5th grade then they must play "varsity" football in the league. Take in mind giving the "Outlaw" team the benefit of the doubt most of what you hear is 2nd and 3rd hand rumors. They did in fact have a long great run in baseball which put there football way behind schedule. If they or any other teams have illegal players on there teams it will all come out in the wash. If you have great concerns about them being older call the league officials and have them to check into it. I say good luck to all teams big, small, young, old, play hard, play fair, and play to make this an exciting season for all to watch. These young boys, soon to be young adults, are the future of Southern Ohio Football. Get after it this Saturday!!!!!
