Coal Grove Jr High Baseball 2010

Post by gogrove9 »

The grove hosted Portsmouth Jr High Saturday for 2 , 5 inning games and won both. Good job by both schools on the first game of the season.

SP had some games scheduled with you guys but they got cancelled. Anybody know why? Are you guys school sponsored and only can play a limited number of games?

I know for a fact that the CG Junior High baseball team is school sponsored (check the big yellow school bus that they arrive to away games in), thus they have certain limitations not imposed upon other school/traveling teams.

Not only is the CG Junior High team subject to games-played limitation, they also do not practice/play during times of state-mandated standardized testing.....that's kinda sorta more important than winning a mythical area junior high baseball championship title.

Trust me, bro....if the schedule accomodated it, the CG coach would schedule anybody who wanted to play them.

If you have any further concerns, feel free to pm me for the coach's phone number, etc.

Did all the games scheduled with South Point get cancelled or just the one during testing week? I drive a bus for the school and the school is paying for transportation to the games for the jr high. If it wasn't school sponsored then they wouldn't allow the team to utilize the buses.

This bro just wanted to know why, I wasn't insinuating that the games were cancelled out of fear of playing. And how am I to know whether it is school sponsored or not by noting the bus, since the games won't be played? Why so defensive? ;-)

One was April 7th and the other April 28. I think the testing week would have been the one on the 28th.

You may wanna check with the SP Coach about the who and the why re: the 4/7 game being cancelled. As I said before, Chuck McKnight is extremely easy to get ahold of regarding the 411 for Coal Grove Junior High baseball.

I think that a school sponsored Junior High team is limited to the # of games it can have. The travel teams can really have as much as they want. Maybe that is why it was cancelled. I think they can only have like 14 or 17 games.

Yes it was and it still was yesterday. The high scholo is doing absolutely nothing to help with it. I look for most of the home games to be cancelled if it rains even slightly. I guess the high school doesn't care because next year they will have a new field! JMHO But Whatever!

SP had games cancelled with them.... something about CG couldn't play the game at SP due to some reason so SP didn't want to play away if the team wasn't coming to their field....but we have had tons of games cancelled with other teams as well...due to not being able to get a bus or not enough players or whatever

how's that pocket? ;-) Don't read anything more into it than what was stated no need to read between the lines cause there is none!!!

For the love of SamHill, give it a rest. These Junior High baseball schedules are volatile - kids are testing in the spring, high school teams get first priority on the fields, there's been a ton of rain, some fields don't have lights, certain teams are school-backed (thus restricting the number of games they can play), etc etc etc.

oooooh, someone may lose a Junior High baseball game, stop the presses....we're gonna miss out on flying a banner. GMAFB! Trust me, Coal Grove's coaching staff isn't preoccupied with the almighty W.....they're just trying to teach some baseball and keep these teenagers from being bored out of their freaking minds in today's world. Heck Coal Grove tried to add Wheelersburg's team to the schedule, from what I understand the schedules simply couldn't accomodate a meeting. I have heard that the Burg is an awesome team and would surely beat CG badly, since they can't play us - they must be scared? Heck no, their schedule simply couldn't fit us in! It wasn't a matter of "I'm not coming to your place if you don't come to my place", blah blah blah.

Why the drama? Worry about your own team's schedule....start your own thread....go play or practice with the kids. I'm only posting this because I'm bored in the latrine.

Go Hornets, and all local JH baseball teams! Get better for the future!

By the way, Gallipolis beat CG last week (4/20), 9-5 I believe.

Gallipolis has a very nice team. Executed the ol' bases loaded triple steal pickoff play to perfection. They had a legit 75-mph hurler as well.
