5-6?
Portsmouth usually has a 5th and a 6th grade team.
So basically their cracking down on transfers from team to team because East loaded up last year, and now because the rules say you don't need a waiver to play for either Portsmouth or Rough Riders if you live in Portsmouth; the Rough Riders are loading up. At the same time, we are cracking down on the waivers, which is limiting every other school and thus, their competition. Sweet.

ok, I know our 4th should be pretty much back intact give or take 2-3, and 3rd is getting there, but 6th is low right now.

I just don't see how this is good for any of these teams futures. Even if all these kids go to ND, odds are that they don't play there in the 7th grade. So they may be good players and they may win the Super Bowl, but the kids that will have to take their place from 7th on up will not have the playing experience that they should have recieved. Not to mention the kids that get to play less may look elsewhere, like a soccer field. Same situation at Green. If Green wants to build a football team, tell the Burg kids to play elsewhere. Just an opinion.

Thats what I said at the meeting, how can you release kids and then take kids from other schools and help your program in junior high. Junior high is a feeder for high school and for the last several years
our freshman and j.v. has been undefeated........because of junior high. That's why West will not release or take other kids from elsewhere. If a parent wants their kid to play for Ports. West then
move here. Hate to sound selfish, but it's for our program and our's alone.....PERIOD!!!

As far as RR 5/6 having a loaded team, that's their business but I am sure the coaches will have complaints about pt and parents will be stuck there. Good and bad of coaching!
Our PHS numbers from last night: 3rd grade probably 14, 4th-17. 5th-appx 16-17 and 6th appx 11. We r doing signups all week.

If he lives in sciotoville - he would have to get permission from the sciotoville league prez but if he lives in Portsmouth he can play for rr or phs.

As far as Rough Riders go, there were 37 5/6 graders at practice last night. Double what we had last year. There were a few kids from the Trojans that weren't there in the years past, but not too many, maybe 5 or 6. We lost a couple to the Trojans though. Honestly, I am not sure where the rest of the kids came from or what school they go to. I am not familiar with many of them, which is strange, since I know most of the kids who play ball in Portsmouth. 3/4 grade only had 11 or 12. This large number of kids is an issue that we have not had since I have been associated with RR. It will be nice for the kids to get a look at someone across from them in practice. This was a good group of boys before the additions of the new kids, besides one, they will not add nor detract from the talent level. I'm sure that we will encounter complaints over pt and such, which is another issue we have not had to deal with much over the past few years. But we all get plenty of practice dealing with that the rest of the year in hoops and baseball...lol. Good luck to all area teams! ( Especially Trojans and Rough Riders) ;) No offense to the other teams, just a little biased...lol.
Nick or Tobias, where is the preview this year? I know it's on the 21st right?

That is alot, and if a parent/player isn't happy they cannot switch to a diff team once they signup! 2 teams may be the answer.

Not sure yet... I guess we'll have to see how many stick it out. A lot of first time players. Two teams would be a good solution. I have always liked the smaller numbers, even though it did present some problems. I guess time will tell...
