The 2011 Minford All Star Girls Tournament will be held from Feb. 20th through Feb. 27th. The 3rd and 4th grade tournaments will be held at Minford Primary Gym from Feb. 21 through Feb. 27th. The 5th and 6th grade tournaments will be held at Minford Middle School from Feb. 20th through Feb. 23rd and finish on Feb. 27th. Entry fee for the tournament is $100 and must be turned in by Feb. 10th to guarantee your spot in the tournament. All players must be enrolled in the same school. No travel teams permitted. Piketon 6th grade would like to register. Didnt have any luck when I called the number above. Left a message but got no return call. I will try again today. Go ahead and put Piketon 6th grade on the list.

The 5th and 6th grade girls brackets are full and bursting at the seems. We are limited in the number of girls teams we can have enter due to conflicts with gym time. I am sorry we are unable to allow more teams to enter, but we do not have any available time to schedule any more games

Pool B in the 6th grade tournament is stacked from what I have found out on this site.

South Webster has won something like 48 games in a row.

Greenup County just won a 9 team tournament at Portsmouth West last month.

Portsmouth West just finished 2nd in the same 9 team tournament last month.

Anybody have any information on the teams from Pool A?

stacked is a understatement!!!

typical minford tournament put all the stacked teams in one bracket and put minford in with the weaker teams. If it is like last year after pool play the same teams will play each other. The stacked team bracket will play against each other in the single elimination and the weaker bracket will play against each other. Instead of having the 1 seed in pool A play the last seed in pool B etc.

Now don't generalize from year to year, once they hit the bracket it all shakes out, and from what I have been seeing the other tournys do the same thing..and I did not do the 5/6 grade tourny, but the 3/4 and I evened it out, so don't generalize. All pool play does it give seeding, if the number 4 team in B is stronger then the number 1 team in pool A then it doesnt matter anyway, you still have to play the game and you could have two teams from the same pool play in the championship if you are setting the brackets that way.

very truthful of last years tourney. They ended up #1 seed playing absolutely no one, the two better teams were in a different bracket. Come single elimination they just played teams in their pool which allowed them in the championship game. I always say u draw. If you want a good tourney, have a draw and have the coaches who want to be there to come.

But you are not supposed to play teams in your pool if it is a true pool play tourny, you cross play in the bracket portion and I believe that is the way it will be done at both levels this year..cannot speak for last year, different people running it this year at both levels. Draw is bad because you could have teams play bad teams the whole way..and it is only Pee Wee at this age talent comes to the top and wins games..well sometimes you get a lil lucky..lol

I dont have any illusions about a trophy!!! I only care that it is a positive experience for my team and that we play hard/smart and compete to the final buzzer.

Does Coal Grove have two 5th grade teams or are they playing twice on Sunday Feb. 20?

I noticed they play at 5:00 vs Waverly and 7:00 vs West.

I don't see where Valley 5th is playing on Sunday.
