Minford 8th grade football

Post by Jorge Sandusky »

Is Minford 8th grade the best 8th grade team in this area? I have heard that they are unstoppable.

They are pretty good. The pirates lost to them by a touchdown. These 2 teams have battled every year last year burg won. Should be some good games in the future. I would like a due over for this years game, we had kids playing out of position in the 1st week, They just beat a undefeated portsmouth team. The pirates are playing well right now.

minford lost like 5 fumbles against burg and still beat them. if they played burg again they would completely dominate them.

Come on now you beat them with a trick (play half back pass late in the game)! dominate us is hillarious! Minford has never and will never dominate Wheelersburg in football in any grade! These (2) 8th grade classes have competed in every sport, Baseball burg dominates them, Basketball in 7th we won the county tournament, Football we won in 7th grade football minford won in 8th grade so overall I would say that burg has the upper hand at this point. Are you related to my buddy westsider1993?

It sounds like both Minford and Wheelersburg has had great seasons. I'd like to see NY play either team. I think it would be a great test for all involved.

Junior high football is the most hyped up play of football. Kids develop at different rates. In Junior High if you have a guy who is shaving already and running the football, he is going to be faster and stronger and will probably dominate the game. Why anybody puts stock in junior high football is beyond me.

Burg didn't dominate in basketball, Minford 7th grade beat them 2x in the reg season, so thats 2 to 1 and Minford and burg did not play in baseball as 7th graders last year. Last year burg won in football by 7pts and this year the same class in Minford beat the burg 8th by 8pt. Minford jr high track scored better in the county meet than burg last year. Burg 8th didn't dominate this 8th grade class at Minford in any sport, so get your facts straight.

True enough, kids mature at different levels and that makes a difference. But if you are so ambivilant about it why post on a Jr. High message board. I like Jr. High sports simply because it has been an enjoyable age level to coach for me.

I didn't say burg dominated in basketball I said we won the county tournament, we won when we played our starters the whole game. The 2 games mentioned our starters didnt play half the game because we are developing kids all 15 on the Jr. high teams. when it counted (tournament) we won! We played baseball in little league and smoked them every time. look its Jr. High they are correct kids develop at different times you said they would domminate us if we played again! And they didnt beat us in track. Now I have said that this Minford 8th grade class is good and they play us as good as any school plays us. They will battle for years to come. Good luck! By the way friday we win by 2 TD's.

I believe the NY 8th grade is 6-0. I know they have not been beat yet. Just not 100% on the number of wins.
They have been averaging over 40pts per game. I know they have wins over, Logan, Trimble, Meigs, Wellston, Vinton County and Alexander. I think
they only have one game left against Athens next week.
This is a really good group to watch, fast, strong and big.

You should contact Minford coach and play them if you want a real test, they are by far the best team in scioto county. They are 8-0 big fast and strong, that would be a good game to watch.

Yes but Eastern has combined team and Minford just had 7th grade. I heard Eastern is big and good for this being their first year for football.

Yes, Eastern was definitely impressive for the first year having a program. I really hope it continues to work out for them, because another strong football team in the SOC would be great. The SOC 1 has fallen on some tough times lately, and adding another strong program would be a great boost for them.

Minford had kids playing out of position as well as it was also their first game of the year. Two that came out the week of the first game, that didnt play and started the rest of the year.

This 8th grade group is the best overall team that has come thru Minford since the 2009-10 Aaron Oesch's bunch. Sure there are teams in front of them that have more talented players, but overall as a team, this is going to be a fun bunch to watch. The key is for the kids to stick together and encourage each other, and not let others drop off to other sports or just decide to get a bad attitude and not do the right things to keep making this team successful. That's what happened with the 2011-12, they were great in Jr. High but only a handful out of 15 eventually made it to their Sr. year. The star QB of that class decided he wanted to be a golfer his Jr. year and concentrate on basketball. If this group sticks together, they can play with anyone in the state within the respected division.

Well I dont OWN them, so they would not be MINE. Sorry if Minford's jr high didnt hammer you enough this year, but it will happen over and over and over when this group gets to high school.

Will you be out of high school by then "then what"?????
