If you enjoy watching softball the Southern Ohio Junior High Softball League Tournament games will be played this weekend behind ND High School.
Game times Saturday, 5/2, 9:00, 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00. Sunday, 5/3, game times are 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00.

We have had the chance to see/play a few of these teams down in Waverly on Friday nights and this should be a good tournament.

Round 1 game results and Saturday matchups:
South Webster over Eastern 8 (17-8). Burg 1 over East (in 4 innings) Burg 1 will play South Webster Saturday at 9:00.
Notre Dame over Minford 2 (in 4 innings) and Burg 2 over Oak Hill (12-11 in 9 innings). Notre Dame and Burg 2 will play Saturday at 11:00 am
Clay over PHS (in 4 innings) . Clay will play the winner of Valley vs Piketon 8 on Saturday at 1:00 pm. (Valley vs Piketon 8 will be played tonight)
Northwest over Piketon 7 and Minford 1 over West (in 5 innings). Northwest vs Minford 1 will be played Saturday at 3:00
South Webster over Eastern 8 (17-8). Burg 1 over East (in 4 innings) Burg 1 will play South Webster Saturday at 9:00.

While the weather did not cooperate much during regular season it sure was great for tournament games all day Saturday and Sunday at ND.
I don't remember all the Saturday scores but in game 1 it was Burg 1 over South Webster.
In game 2 it was ND over Burg 2.
In game 3 it was Clay over Piketon 8
And in game 4 it was Northwest over Minford.
On Sunday in first Semi final game Burg 1 over ND by 10 in 6th inning.
In second Semi final game Clay over Northwest by 1 in I believe the bottom of 7th.
In final game Burg 1 over Clay 8 -2.

Great day to finish off the spring for the jr higher's . I had not watched any jr high ball this season and came away very impressed . In the 1st semi Burg was just too much for a younger ND team . Emnett girl , the 1b , hit 2 dingers .
In the other semi I came in the 4th inning with NW ahead of Clay 4-0 , each added a run and they entered the 6th inning with NW ahead 5-1 . Following a couple walks Clay had a kid drive one to the right center gap for a huge 3 run scoring playing that put them in place to tie the game . They added a run in the 7th to win it . Both teams looked great , NW will have several impact players enter HS next year , They looked super at most positions , really impressed by their C, SS and 3rd baseman. And Clay is in the same boat , a great group of 8th graders and a super solid team , 2 good pitchers , they will clearly contend for the SOC 1 title the next 4 years .
But the day belonged to a deep talented Burg team , great in the circle , tons of speed all the way thru the lineup , good baserunners , and didnt panic when Clay got a 2 run lead in the 1st inning , Claxon kid hits a 3 run dinger in the bottom of 1 that seemed to swing the momentum and Clay never really recovered . So Burg homered 3 times in 2 games at the jr high level . Thats impressive stuff.
