I know that it means different things to different people. To me Christmas means a chance to have my family all together at the same time again. It seems like the older I get, it gets harder to get them all back at once. I know they have other commitments as well. But to me no matter how old they get, they are still my children, and I remember when they were born, the funny things they have done over the years on Christmas morning.
Christmas also is a special time for another reason. It gives me time to think about what the season is really about. I would be lying if I tried to say I didn't like the gifts, but it also is a time for me to give back to those who are not as fortunate as I am. It doesn't have to be a huge monetary donation. It could be as simple as helping an elderly person load their heavy groceries into their car. At first I get a confused look, but them a warm smile of appreciation for helping them out. Sometimes when I am feeling down, I stop and look around. It does not take me long to realize that I do not have it so bad at all. I have the chance to be with my family, but think about all the men and women who are not so lucky. They are scattered out all over the World serving our Great Nation, far away from home and their loved ones. They are the ones making it possible for me for me to be here in Southeastern Ohio where I am in a warm house with my family, without worrying about getting shot at or blown up just driving down the road, without warning. I am not getting into whether the conflicts we are in all over the World is right or wrong. but I know that I will be saying special prayers for their safe return home to their family and friends. God Bless them all, and to all my friends from this wonderful website, I Wish You All A Very Merry Christmas, And A Very Happy New Year. Thanks, 1974 (Winton Co) Viking

Re: What Does Christmas Mean to You?
We all like getting gifts and we all did get one when God sent His Son to earth to die for our sins.
Christmas is a day set aside to acknowledge the birth of Christ Jesus. He was (and still is!) the greatest gift ever given. While I have to admit, I personally almost sometimes can't stand Christmas as it's so aggravating but at the same time, I'm glad that year after year, because of Christmas, young people continue to hear the story of the Birth Of Jesus Christ. Yes, even through it's commercialism, it's hype etc etc, the story continues to be told!
I like the saying, 'Jesus.....Wise Men Continue To Seek Him!'

It's sad that most people are only generous to each other around christmas time, which in reality wasn't the birth date of jesus in the first place.
Re: What Does Christmas Mean to You?
It doesn't matter the actual date, what does matter is that we remember the reason for the season. God Bless our service people everywhere who enable us to have the freedom to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas to all of my SEOP's friends.

Re: What Does Christmas Mean to You?
I think some people would get on a soapbox and advance their ideas that somehow should sway others but honestly, it means I get a couple of weeks off to rest, take a break from business and catch up with my family at the end of the year. Nothing more.
