suggestions on businessess which are not legit

Post by smmoty »

Any suggestions on dealing with businesses that are not paying taxes, or doing anything legit??

First thing is, I wouldn't do business with them and then depending on what they are doing is not legit I might turn them in. :122246

Maybe thats what I should have asked. Where do you turn them in. I know there is not any payroll taxes paid, sales tax, or not even half of the income is claimed.
I am all for supporting local businesses and will even pay a dollar or two more to suport them. I do not want to be involved in anything underhanded, and unfortunatley some of the bargain basement businesses are not legit. How can the local businesses keep up if they are expected to pay all these taxes and do everything by the book???

There are so many people running businesses that aren't legit. Also, what makes me angry, are those people who are getting paid under the table, and not paying taxes. My daughters ex was getting paid under the table, and wasn't paying child support.

I agree with what Orange-n-Brown said. These businesses, in the grand scheme of things, usually do one of two things, either, one, give legit businesses, like smmoty's, a bad name for doing sub-par business and getting away with it by hiding when things go bad or two, cost legit business owners, again like smmoty, money by undercutting the legit guy due to not having to pay taxes, overhead etc. Either way, a bad deal for the legit business owners. Blow the whistle and get them above board and paying like above board, legit business owners.
