I am more in favor of cruel and unusual punishment every day I live. If no one breaks the law, why would the punishment ever be implemented? Ive never laid my head down on my pillow a single night worrying that I might receive a lethal injection or enough volts to fry me where I sat.

I advocate going back to the day when executions were conducted in public, and I can think of no greater deterrent to crime than a few examples of a capital criminal having ropes tied to each arm and leg and then to horses who took off in four different directions.....VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY SLOWLY!

Judgmental? Perhaps, but not nearly as judgmental as the one who made themselves God in deciding to take the life of another; or in this case violating someone defenseless.

Well then you're un American and not very Christian.

You're a hypocrite.

I'm allowed to judge, there's nothing in the constitution against judging other people by what they say or do. I'm also not a christian so i can cast as many stones as I like to.

what they do to get arrested in the first place is cruel and unusual...moreso than any other crime.

doesn't matter. It's cruel and unusual punishment. It solves the problem but it doesnt mean it's just.

i dont see it as cruel and unusual punishment, and here's why...cruel and unusual is chopping somebody's head off for stealing a loaf of bread. what these sex offenders do is take away their victims' right to choose their sexual partner, so by castrating them (be it chemically or physically) we take away their right to HAVE a sexual partner. seems pretty just to me.

It's forced mutilation of the human being, therefor cruel or unusual. I don't agree with the crime the person did (it sickens me just as much as it does you), but i rather not resort to savage punishements.

These people don't deserve to live if they take the innocence away from a young child.

I think castration is a very fair alternative to sending them to the chair/needle.

Are you a child molester? I ask this because you seem so against any penalties to child molesters.

I'm not against penalties to child molesters. I'm all for them doing a great amount of jail time, but castration is a very barbaric punishment.

barbaric as it may be...

don't you agree that it is letting them off pretty good for what they are doing?

Molesting a child causes severe damage to the child...
Studies show that this damage can include:

* difficulty in forming long-term relationships;
* sexual risk-taking that may lead to contracting sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS;
* physical complaints and physical symptoms;
* depression, suicidal thoughts, and suicide;
* links to failure of the immune system and to increases in illnesses, hospitalizations, and early deaths.

[source: http://www.childmolestationprevention.o ... facts.html]

I agree that castration isn't a very progressive punishment...but, we can't risk these people molesting more children.
Recidivism rates are way to high. Permanently disable these people from molesting children.

Do you think chemical castration is barbaric?

Antony,

If I were you I would be more worried about the MORAL aspect rather than the constitution....

MORAL aspect tells us we do not have the right to Judge anyone.....

But, you are defiantly a "Hypocrite" and I'm not calling you one....You proved it yourself....

I know you are against Religion....But, the Bible will tell you not to "Judge" anyone....

"Judge ye not least ye shall be Judged".....

Your really immature from all I have read of you post!!!!And, very angry!!!!

However, I will place you on the prayer list along with Bear....And, I will pray for you also....

Yeah castration is moral and right. :roll:

Is what they did disgusting? Hell yes it is! But I consider it be inhumane, cruel and unusual. Let's cut off someone's hand for stealing money. It solves the problem and it's just.

I'm not suprised that you think castration is just because you do read the Bible for moral guidence. Not the book you should be reading if you are working for morals.

God you're an idiot :roll:

You said that I should worry about a moral punishement than a constitutional punishment. You said you were going to pray for me, which I could care less if you did or not ( I consider it an insult).

there's no mutilation involved, it's all done with drugs.

Chemical castration would involve treatment with the drug medroxyprogesterone acetate, with the aim of diminishing the offender's sexual impulses.

however...

Once ordered to undergo the treatment, the offender would have the option of physical castration

so therefore any physical "mutilation" involved would essentially be voluntary.

It's still a disgusting punishment. It upsets me that you're disgusting enough to support the bill, which will probably go to the supreme court to be deemed unconstitutional anyways.

i'm sorry that i upset you so much but i've spent the last two years doing my best to help a sexual assault (nearly rape) victim recover from the mental and emotional effects it's had on her. it hasnt been pretty but she's made a lot of progress and still has a way to go. so i'm sorry if i have no remourse for the punishment we give these animals who ruin the lives of other human beings because they wanted a quickie.

it upsets me that you're disgusting enought to judge me and my views when you havent been through what i've been through or witnessed what i've witnessed...that, my friend, is called ignorance.
