let me add something to that. and I think it is important. the social experiance of attending public school is not always a positive thing for people.

Ballparent,that "wonderful gift" that the gubment gives children isn't so hot. From what I observe the education system in this country is going down the toilet. Teaching tests and not facts, diversity brainwashing and free condoms....not the great "gift" that you think it is. Disrespecful kids get stupid time outs instead of 2-3 good licks like they need.....I'm sorry I don't agree with you. The teachers unions and liberal/marxist administrators are poisoning our kids.

So I'm assuming by your post and your feelings that you send your children to private schools and don't take advantage of the public school system?

Life is what you make of it. Some people have an excuse for literally everything. The only person who holds responsibility for you is you. Don't blame the public school system for social unacceptance.

There are tragic stories of kids in this country who have committed suicide because of bullying and/or not fitting in.

and there are teachers who are afraid to stand up and put some of the cruel people in their place.

social problems is my youngest sons problem due to his aspergers he doesn't know how to deal with people socially so we have placed him with a councilor he goes to a group therapy and sees a doctor to help him..

and BTW way folks as parents its our job to teach our children the rights and wrongs
the teacher is only there to do the reading writing and arithmetic parts...
learning begins at home from the day you bring that sweet little innocent child home and you are still teaching them until the day you die... I learn something new from my mom and dad everyday I speak with one or both of them everyday... its amazing at 18 to 25 you thought you knew everything but once you are a parent that sure does change..
until you walked into the shoes of a parent then well you know nothing
those critters need instructions or directions or something but instinct of parenting kicks in and you teach them to learn to suckle right away you talk to them and therefore they find your voice and the list goes on ......................

For one thing, suicide is a personal choice and the person who makes this choice is most often in a troubled mind state prior to any surrounding events. Too often suicides are blamed on, and many mistakenly feel guilty, of a person who takes their own life. Suicides come from within, long before any external forces come into play.
Any responsible parent that is aware of any problems and are not satisfied with the school system would make the choice to home-school their child, ask ONB, it's not easy, and many accomodations have to made, but she does it. The American school system is not perfect but as Fido says, many around the world would love to have the opportunity and it is a right that our government has given our children. Parents are legally responsible for making sure they make every effort that their child can enjoy it.

think outside the box. and think about what a difficult age it is. any type of traumatic event can push someone over the edge. in the mind of a 15 year old, something traumatic may not be what we as adults think of as being that big of a deal. and it is hard. because what a lot of these kids truly need is Jesus.

im just saying that if we went by the constitution of the United States, there would be no truancy laws.

I agree that everyone should get an education. i just disagree with government control over peoples lives.
