It is obvious that an increase in jobs will not, in and of itself, decrease the national debt.

I'm not KantuckyII. I agree all the Potus's since 74 have dropped the ball on oil, spending and growing the national debt/deficit! The pendulum has swung wildly, from deregulation to over-regulation but nothing in the center. The only constant, the Fed's inability to satisfy their need to spend hard working people's money and growing the debt/deficit. It's time to take our medicine, as bitter a pill can taste! We agree on the same things, abuck, except that we cannot increase the debt anymore to simply make more jobs.

I've advocated a balanced approach from the start. Not sure what you are talking about, unless it is in reference to you advocating more stimulus. People have to work to get off the workers dime. But going through a spin cycle to create it isn't addressing the issue. Such as you advocate when going to War, if a stimulus is so important then tax ALL people instead of running up another credit card. :12222 I also agree with Portsmouth Trojan's approach. All Fed programs on the chopping block with tax increase on the wealthy (please define wealthy), to include closing loopholes in the code. I support a national sales tax for the sole purpose of helping balance the budget and paying down the debt, truly shared sacrifice. :12224 We have lived off broken/over promises for decades. I would define wealthy in 2 ways. There should be an asset wealth tax as well as an income tax.

The asset wealth tax would consist of a tax on ownership of property over a certain value (farmers and other certain land owners could have reductions based upon use of property). The income tax would begin at 50% on all income above $250,000. We could start there and see where this takes us.

National sales tax would suffocate retail sales so I am not a big advocate of that. But, I understand its purpose.
