Yeah I know what you mean. It seems that my stomach is shrinking and it is getting easier to get through the hungry times. I don't know how many calories I was consuming before we started but I was eating something all the time. I have been drinking a lot of water, tea, etc. and that helps a lot. Hang in there. With some strong will you can do it

I can tell you about how many you were eating before..if you were like 20, probably around 15 per pound of weight or more if you're very active (like sports a lot) but as we get older, our metabolism slows way down...at 50 it's more like 13 per pound..
a 200 lb 20 year old 3,000 to maintain that weight
a 200 lb 60 year old 2,500 to maintain that weight
If you eat an additional 100 calories a day than you burn over a 1 year period, you will gain 10 lbs. 200 = 20 etc etc... so, it's easy to see why we gain weight as we age if we don't adjust our food intake.
Here's a wild fact..a 12 year old, 100 lb boy during a growth spurt needs 3,000 calories a day!
Tobias, if you cut your calories to 1800 or even 2000 a day, you'll lose weight, not as fast as you would at 1,500 but you'll be more likely to stick with it.
Medications can also make you put on weight, are you on any? I was put on a new med last summer that caused me to gain almost a 1/2 a lb a day for a couple of weeks and then more afterwards but at a slower rate. I'm getting a hold back on that though, I guess the body is starting to adjust to the medication and I dropped a lb a week the last 4 weeks (sounds better than saying just 4 lbs )

i started a blood pressure med that had a diuretic in it and I thought hot dog there goes some weight running to the bathroom... yeah right that didn't work I don't own scales for the simple reason its depressing when you are trying to lose weight and you may not lose any and get one then I want to fall off the wagon and go eat a big juicy burger or have a big ole peanut buster parfait

I'm back on a diet, I just polished off 2 cheese burgers..
90/10 hamburger from Wal-mart..1/8 lb burger (hey, it really works) each 100 calories, 1 slice of 2% cheese 40 calories, bun 110 = only 250 each! that's only 500 and that is a lot of food and very satisfying. I quit drinking anything but water (except on special occasions, I'll have pop, 3 cans in the last 5 weeks) and I have come to enjoy that also
now, that 100 calorie figure. I don't know how that is arrived at..if it's the whole burger (it's actually rated at 200 for 4 oz) before it's cooked as if you put it in a recipe or fried it cause you do leave a lot of the grease in the pan which is calorie dense..I count it all either way

I quit drinking pop out of the can about 2 years ago.. I may have had 3 in 2 years... I drink ice tea from Sonic route 44 3 of those a day with splenda.. and at least one or two bottles or glasses a water a day... maybe once a week I have a fountain pop when we go out I can't stand diet so its the sugar stuff yuck I need to start putting splenda in my purse for those places that don't have it for their tea.
I don't like the taste of Wally's meats I buy none from there I buy angus burger from Krogers or foodland or laura lean when Krogers has it marked down or its on sale.
