I have taught school since 1984 and have been a principal the last 4 years. I can honestly say that uniforms would be a GREAT IDEA for almost every school. One school I taught at had a very strict dress code which I thought was almost extreme but it doens have to be that way. A dress code COULD be something as simple as wearing shirts with a collar or in place of the collar, a sweater. Pants COULD be any color of dress pants except blue jeans.
I dont blame the student as much as I do the adult. I would say I am shocked at what some parents allow their kids to wear, espeically girls, but not much is shocking anymore and that is sad.
Are uniforms at public schools a good idea?

Wouldn't you think that a teacher of 20 years and a principal of 4 years would proof read his remarks before posting??
Now THAT is sad.
