OK? That's like saying Picasso wasn't too bad a painter. That Shakespeare could string a couple of sentences together.Runner wrote:Lennon was ok at his song writing. But as a person....he sucked.
Re: John Lennon
Yep. That is my opinion. I did not like the majority of his songs once he went solo. The same thing goes for some of his later songs with the Beatles. There are a few that I liked but not many. To many of his songs represented something anti this or anti that if you listen to them closely enough, which is not my type of music.

Re: John Lennon
Let me guess.....if he would have said he was great you wouldn't have dropped the "like you knew him" malarkey? My Dad feed me a steady diet of Lennon growing up, remember his murder very well. However, I can't help but see a little validity in the comment that his late Beatles and solo career writing was not quite up to par with his earlier work. But then again, look what I'm comparing it to. John's strength was his lyrics and harmony. He wasn't an overwhelmingly talented guitarist, but still very capable. That being said, he didn't suck as a person, but had his issues just like anyone else. None of the Fab 4 sucked as people. Listening to Double Fantasy now and it's a classic to be sure. Love Wings too, Paul was my favorite Beatle but I deeply love them all.noreply66 wrote:Like you knew himdazed&confused wrote:Runner wrote:Lennon was ok at his song writing. Re: John Lennon
Lennon is best taken in moderation. I agree his later work wasn't the stuff of greatness. Guess Yoko PW'ed the artist in him. Why I'll never know. But I'd say his stuff circa 1966 is very thought provoking. I don't believe people should worship him but his influence on music and culture at that time is huge.

Lennon was a songsmith of the highest degree. He did change throughout his career, for the better I believe. The early beatles stuff was good, but it was pop music for the masses. The later music is much better, IMO, and stands the test of time a tad bit better.

What an idiot you are. But that has been proven many times over. You apparently have not read much about him of how he was a wife beater and how he abused his son. Guess you don't know a thing about him at all with the stupid comment you made. I also guess you didn't have you buddy abuck around to coach you on a responsenoreply66 wrote:Like you knew himdazed&confused wrote:Runner wrote:Lennon was ok at his song writing.
