Taking pics and developing film

Post by mstangmom »

So I have always wanted to try taking pics and developing my own film and thought I might finally give it a try.

Any of you picture buffs out there have any recommendations?

I need everything starting with the camera

I'm kinda curious why you'd want to develop your own film (I'm assuming you're talking B & W as it's very hard to get into color developing) in 2008 with the HUGE strides in digital cameras which have now exceeded (upper models) the quality of 35 mm?

Color is very difficult and expensive to develop.

If you look into color, you'll see it's not really practical to develop your own and it's very complicated and expensive.

If you're convinced you're still wanting to do this, you can pick up used 35 mm's for a dime on the dollar, they are everywhere. Any camera shop can sell them to you at crazy low prices now except for the flagship models of the major brands.

Hey, here's a website that shows some video on how to develop that looks pretty good. At the bottom the page there are a bunch of them

Not the same O-N-B just not the same. I wanted to do this before there were digital cameras. and yes to all the young ones there was a way to takes and develop pics before digital.

I did this quite often in the service. It wasn't my equipment but it was rather easy. Spent a lot of my free time on it . If you can get into it you will enjoy it.

It's not the same, B & W film has far more latitude than digital does but...many times, most wouldn't notice.

isn't freecycle nice? I have given away many things on the Athens freecycle :-D

I started taking my daughters senior pics Tuesday with my new digital I got for Christmas this way we get to keep all the pics and I can take them to Wally's to have them made :-D My eldest daughters turned out great!
And we spent under $100 for them! :-D
