Flooding
We just tried to get to Lawco and it was a no go.....floods everywhere...in places I've never seen before flood. Of course the husband says...ahhh....we'll give it a half hour and it will go down and we'll try again. But Randy Yohe of WSAZ says it's still 8-10 feet over the road in some places. We have rivers running off of the hills from everywhere!

Well, no lake tonight. Parents-in-law and friends are stranded out there and can't get home, and the electric went out.

Heck I didn't know either till I got home from work today. Another 39 days of this and we're all in trouble.

Yikes, Zap - thank goodness I'm at the other end of our street!
My back yard and back porch are looking a little "lake-ish" at the moment, however!

Re: Flooding
That last round of storms only raised it a few inches. So I'm still looking about the same as that picture caglewis. I'm wondering what the backyards of those house across the street from you look like about right now. Or the drainage ditch by the corner.
Re: Flooding
I, like you Zap, "wonder" - but, believe me, I'm NOT going outside or across or down the the street to SEE for myself!

Re: Flooding
Because of the lack of storm sewers, much of Green Valley and Sedgewick looks like a scene from Venice.
Yet, the city is nice enough to charge the residents of North Ironton $2 per each thousand gallon of water used for storm sewer maintenance.

Re: Flooding
oz and I drove through some really high water across the roads in Otway, and west Portsmouth this evening to get home.
also new boston had some houses with water in them as I came through...we was not here when the rain hit, but from the looks of it...it must of been a heck of a rain.
while in Hillsboro we got caught in a traffic jam,and noticed they had no electric, so we stopped to eat,and in the reataraunt all the talk was of tornado like winds destroying barns, and trees being uprooted everywhere..it was a mess down there too.
looks like we missed a Tornado going, and a flash flood returning

Flooding A Concern In Southwest Ohio
Wednesday, June 4, 2008 3:45 AM
DAYTON, Ohio — Strong thunderstorms continued to batter southern and central Ohio Wednesday, with power outages, lightning fires and flooding reported across the region.
Tornado watches also remained in effect until 11:00 a.m. from a line of thunderstorms that began Tuesday night. No injuries were reported.
Andy Hatzos, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, said countless funnel clouds had been reported by early Wednesday, but no tornadoes had been confirmed.
About 24,000 Duke Energy customers in the Cincinnati area were without power after the storm began, but service had been restored to all but 457 by Wednesday, the company said.
In Ross County in southern Ohio, two homes were badly damaged by falling trees, Sheriff Ron Nichols said.
The city of Lebanon had to go to a backup communications system for police and fire dispatchers because one of the antennas for the primary system apparently was hit by lightning, officials said.
Flooding was reported in several communities around Dayton. Parts of Butler and Warren counties near Cincinnati received 2-3 inches of rain, the National Weather Service said.
In Hamilton, a woman was injured Tuesday night when a nearby tree was struck by lightning, according to a supervisor at The Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was treated and expected to be released.
Fire departments in nearby Somerville and Seven Mile responded to reports of electrical lines on fire.
Those attending Tuesday's Hamilton High School commencement in Oxford stayed inside for about 45 minutes after the event as police worked to move people to a basement during high winds and hail that accompanied a tornado warning.

Re: Flooding
Cincinnati WLWT News reported serious storms and storm damage in their area. My brother and his family lost their house [but weren't seriously injured] in the Xenia tornado in 1974. Storms and storm warnings really make me nervous!
And as glad as I am that a "weather event" missed my area, then I immediately feel guilty for feeling glad, because "missing" me means that it hit and hurt someone/somewhere else.

Re: Flooding
Flooding near the house and firetrucks were visible that had the roads blocked off, but like caglewis I wasn't venturing to see it in person. Electric flickered most of the evening but managed to stay on, but the internet/cable bit the dust, so we dragged out the movies and I had my trusty crossword puzzle.
