Successful lung surgery/The danger of smoking
My mother had to under go lung surgery yesterday and came through very well.
Doctor said he got the small spot out and all went well.
Mom smoked for over 60 years. She quit 18 months ago.
She will be on oxygen the rest of her life because of the damage the smoking did to her.
Doctor scares the crap out of me and my family, who was at the hospital.
The surgery was suppose to take three to four hours and with them getting start nearly 45 minutes late, because the of the surgery before my moms. They started around 11:30, So around 1, I walked my sister to the out patient lab to get some blood work done.
About 1:30 I get a page from my sister the doctor needs to talk to you right now.
Two seconds later a hospital worker comes to get me to escort me to a small conference room. About ten minute later the doctor walks in, shut the door and sets down and looks at me and is quiet for about 15 seconds. During the time I walked to the room and was setting there waiting for and then with the doctor, I was terrified. He then takes a deep breath and says all went well.

Good news to hear she came through. Smoking is real bad for you. Lost my father because of it. Tried to get him to quit as a kid and it wouldn't last too long before he started again.
He continued into his seventies. He did get several good retirement years.

Good news, glad she came through. My brother had spots in his lung when he had double pneumonia and never took care it before the big c got him. Some can smoke and not have anything in their lungs,my dad smoked unfiltered lucky strikes since he was a kid up until they discovered he had colon cancer at age 64,they scanned his lungs and said they were clean.

Thanks.
She had to have a lung drained last week.
Put one tube in and after two days, she was good to go, again.

The wife had the top third of her right lung removed two years ago and then they followed up radiating a small spot in the same lung at the Cleveland Clinic. All test show she is cancer free now. I quit smoking over 30 years ago. Knock on wood.

LCF, I'm sorry that I missed this until now. But Praise God she came through the surgery and is now on the mend. Our God is an awesome God, And it sounds like she got excellent treatment.

Thanks so much. She got great care at Lancaster even with all of the confusion she had with them on the phone, as far as her family doctor and Lancaster hospital communicating with each other.YOU'RE TIGER BAIT wrote:LCF, I'm sorry that I missed this until now.
