Urine test for welfare

Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)
Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay
my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to
get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I
have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my
taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. So here is my Question.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I
have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their
feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting
on their rump --doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much
money the state would save if p eople had to pass a urine test to get a
public assistance check?
I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

our school has it for the kids why not those wanting to receive benefits? I think its a great idea.. and therefore if they fail children's services need to be called into to place the children in a safe environment

Urine is too easy to flush, and fake.
Make it a blood test or a hair test.

Not if you do it like the military does it, which was a bit embarassing.
Testing needs to be done which ever method is used, they all work.

Embarassing only if you have a small package, I have found those with large packages glad to advertise their merchandise but then the sissies always were kind of shy..............
Of course the Navy may have been different than the Air Force.......and I will leave it at that..............

I have said this for a long time now. I think the tests should be random through out the month -surprise visits to the home. Drugs in the system or home-no check. Its not fair for the people who earn a living to get tested and hear people say "On the 1st - we'll party." Who do we contact to voice more opinions??

well said basketball parent. I agree.
I do not hate working, but I do hate that these people do not have to work,
they get a check sent to them, they spend it, have more kids, get more benefits
that we pay for, and then it is passed down to their next generation and so on.
When is it going to stop???????
I do not have a problem helping someone that just needs help till they get on their
feet, but keeping them for life is another story.
I agree, I think the testing should be random so that they do not know when it will occur, that way they can not prepare for it.

I used to work in the banking business and every first of the month people would come in to cash their welfare and SSI checks smoking cigarettes and talking about working on their Harleys. My hubby works his butt off and still can't afford a Harley!!
Therefore, I say test just like the working people. If people are willing to help themselves by working at what ever job they can find, I'm all for helping them out with food stamps, child care or even health insurance, but they need to stay clean just like any other working person who is tested.

I think even more important would be to have ALL elected officials submit to random tests. Some of the stuff coming out latley has to be inspired by lsd.

Instructor, are you required to pass a random drug screen?

I actually don't think drug testing should be legal. Yes, some drugs are illegal, but......where does anyone get off firing you for what you do on your own private time. Look if you have an accident and are a trucker or something.....you test the blood.....punish them to the fullest extent if they are really under the influence at that time. This is like giving someone a DUI for being drunk last nite. Yeah their may be lingering effects (hang over) but that isn't cause to issue a DUI. Now flip that. Say you smoked a joint 3 weeks ago.......are you still under the influence? You are in the eyes of a urine test. In reality though you aren't under the influence.
