The politicians are not the only ones laying eggs in Columbus now.
I checked yesterday or the day prior and there was no egg. But this morning, there is a egg in the nest box. Viewing is much better than with the eagle. And usually there is a bird on the ledge also.

The Maryland eagles have a wild hair up their's today.
I shudda captured the pic a couple weeks ago when they had a big fish in the nest. I would love to see a eagle flying through the air carrying a big bunny.

A Full Clutch!
First light this morning (3/27/2009) revealed four eggs:
There is always the possibility of a 5th egg but 4 is more likely. The next step will be to estimate when incubation actually began and count forward on the calendar to predict hatch!
Thanks for whoever started this bird watching...so fascinating. I have become addicted to watching them.

ballparent is the one who gets all of the thanks for initiating the bird watch this year.
http://tinyurl.com/cz46rbAnd yes it is addictive. Good thing I don't have to work for a living anymore.
I try to check every morning and read the blogs. When I checked yesterday morning, all four falcon eggs were visable with no parent in sight. Either in the nest box or on the ledges. I looked a few minutes later and they were covered. So I think the incubation has just started.

I thought some of you might enjoy photos of this year's full clutch of peregrine falcon eggs on the Ironton-Russell Bridge. Incubation is estimated to have begun March 28th.

They are like all little ones. Eat and sleep. They are generally on a fish diet. I look several times a day at the eagles. The Falcons are sitting on eggs.
Go look for yourself.

First falcon hatch for the 2009 nesting season in Ohio. Nest is located on the Terminal Tower in Cleveland overlooking Public Square, about two blocks away from the Quicken Loans Arena. Here's a link to the nest, no live webcam, but has three cameras set up and each holds archived images (click on the archive link below each image), holds up to seven hours worth of images.http://www.falconcam-cmnh.org/news.php

One of the eggs hatched today.
http://ohiodnr.com/wildlife/dow/falcons ... video.aspx1st egg hatches!!!
The first chick of 2009 made it's appearance today, April 28, 2009. I saw the first glance at 3:36 p.m. From a little before 3 p.m. I noticed Scout was quite restless, turning often and looking at the eggs for about 45 minutes prior to me actually seeing the chick. I figured something was up and kept a close watch ready to record. I finally got a glimpse just after 3:30:[/b]

Wow! Good for you bbparent! Now the fun begins...the rest will hatch and then it's feeding time from morning to dark...the parents often bring the prey to the ledge to clean it before they feed....the first thing they do is rip the head off...usually right in front of the ledge camera
...and then they'll pluck it and then take it in to feed the young.....and just wait until the little ones get out on the ledge...hilarious...they play just like kittens and puppies.
Here's a photo of the new little one and by morning we should have another one...check the egg out on the right and the pip...somebody's wanting out of there...
