NY Football Trivia - What teams have NY played more than 10X
There are 12 teams that NY has played AT LEAST 10 times since the Buckeyes first season in 1967. Name the 12 teams AND rank them in order from most games played to fewest games played.......
Re: NY Football Trivia - What teams have NY played more than 10X
Well, Belpre has played Nelsonville every year since 1970 so that would be 39 times. Not sure if they played any in '67, '68 or '69.
I say Belpre is #2 on the list if we don't count the Jacksonville/Trimble/Glouster years as all together.
Some other teams that I know and think these numbers are close but not spot on...
Vinton County - 39
Alexander - 31
Wellston - 27
Meigs - 26
Federal Hocking - 23
Warren - 16
Logan has to be on here as does Athens but I have no idea the number of times they played.
Than makes 9 of the teams, I think.

I don't know the number but Athens and Trimble have to be near the top of the list.

All ten teams mentioned so far are in the top 12. That leaves 2 more teams, plus ranking them in order by number of games played.
The 10 confirmed on the list so far in alphabetical order......Alexander, Athens, Belpre, Federal Hocking, Logan, Meigs, Trimble, Vinton County, Warren, Wellston. There are still two more teams on this list, plus ranking them all in order of games played.
Trimble consolidated before Nelsonville and York consolidated, so every NY-Trimble game would have been played after the Trimble consolidation. The consolidated school was called Glouster for a few years, but changed its name to Trimble. Since it was only a name change, and not further consolidation, statistics would still be the same. That was a rivalry that was inherited from the York Bruins, as the Nelsonville Greyhounds played a SEOAL schedule, plus The Plains and Chauncey-Dover in most years as the two non-league games.

Yes, Miller is one of the 12 teams.
Alexander, Athens, Belpre, Federal Hocking, Logan, Meigs, Miller, Trimble, Vinton County, Warren, Wellston.
There is one more team that NY has played at least 10 times.
And then they need ranked in order.

The one team that is left is the one that I thought would stump the most people. You have to really know your NY football non-league history to guess this one. It will make total sense as soon as someone guesses it. It's just not as obvious as the 9 former unified TVC schools and the old Athens and Logan nonleague contests. If no one guesses the last team by tomorrow, I will give you a hint. That will give people more time to rank them in order.

No. It is a school that still exists today. Nelsonville-York, Meigs, and Athens all consolidated the same year - 1967. So the Nelsonville vs. Pomeroy-Middleport-The Plains -Chauncey-Athens (red and black) rivalries all came to an end at the same time, and NY never once played Pomeroy, Middleport, The Plains, or Chauncey as a result. And the old Nelsonville Greyhounds never once played the consolidated Meigs or Athens (green and gold) as a result.

How about New Lexington? NY ever play them? That seems like it would make sense. Not TOO far away, same division? New Lex.

NY has never played New Lex in football, except for scrimmages.
I'm not giving any clues until tomorrow. See if someone can get this without any help from me.
