What Does Christmas Mean to You?

I know that it means different things to different people. To me Christmas means a chance to have my family all together at the same time again. It seems like the older I get, it gets harder to get them all back at once. I know they have other commitments as well. But to me no matter how old they get, they are still my children, and I remember when they were born, the funny things they have done over the years on Christmas morning.
Christmas also is a special time for another reason. It gives me time to think about what the season is really about. I would be lying if I tried to say I didn't like the gifts, but it also is a time for me to give back to those who are not as fortunate as I am. It doesn't have to be a huge monetary donation. It could be as simple as helping an elderly person load their heavy groceries into their car. At first I get a confused look, but them a warm smile of appreciation for helping them out. Sometimes when I am feeling down, I stop and look around. It does not take me long to realize that I do not have it so bad at all. I have the chance to be with my family, but think about all the men and women who are not so lucky. They are scattered out all over the World serving our Great Nation, far away from home and their loved ones. They are the ones making it possible for me for me to be here in Southeastern Ohio where I am in a warm house with my family, without worrying about getting shot at or blown up just driving down the road, without warning. I am not getting into whether the conflicts we are in all over the World is right or wrong. but I know that I will be saying special prayers for their safe return home to their family and friends. God Bless them all, and to all my friends from this wonderful website, I Wish You All A Very Merry Christmas, And A Very Happy New Year. Thanks, 1974 (Winton Co) Viking
