Another SEO high school 3 sport athlete / coach: (Era 1950-2000)
1.) Played for the 1949 SEOAL Champion football team and 2b for Middleport High School's SEOAL champ and Ohio high school runner up State baseball team in 1950.
2.) Played QB at Ohio U. and lettered in 56, 57 and 58 seasons.
3.) Became a high school head football coach in SEO at Gallipolis and went undefeated in winning the SEOAL championship in his one and only year there.
4.) He then coached 4 yr at Mount Vernon high school and had some of the best teams ever seen there in that town.
5.) Became a college coach in 1965 and coached thru 2000. He coached at Marshall, UC and then went to Miami Oh with Bo Schembechler and then was Bo's main assistant coach at Michigan during late 60's to the mid 70's during what they called the "10 year war" between Woody & Bo.
6.)He was a head coach @ Toledo and won MAC coach of year in 1979 then moved on to Utah and Memphis as a head coach after that then went on to stints with Pitt, Arizona and USC as an offensive coordinator in the late 80's, early 90's and finished his career from 1995-2000 as wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator at OSU under John Cooper.
Note: He's going on 85 now I believe and is retired and living in Arizona.
