A dog is recovering after swallowing its owner's $5,000 wedding ring.Tina Burlett thought the ring had been stolen at first,and called the police.But her grand-mother insisted that Missy,the family's pit bull,should be considered a suspect,given her habit of chewing and gnawing everything in sight.Sure enough,an X-ray of Missy's abdomen revealed the ring,and vomiting was induced.It's not an unusual thing, said veterinarian Dr. Linda Fung.We just made her throw it up.

A tense,four-hour standoff in South Carolina ended with a swat team storming the suspect's home and gently waking him in his recliner.The team's negotiators had been trying to reach Justin Stasney,26, by telephone and megaphone after his mother told police he was barricated in their home with multiple firearms.Getting no response,they stormed the house with weapons at the ready and found Stasney snoozing in a chair. He did not know we were there until we put hands on him,said an arresting officer.

A Wisconsin man who heard a woman moaning and shrieking in the apartment above him grabbed his cavalry sword and charged upstairs.When James Van Iveren burst through the door,his sword at the ready,he found his neighbor watching a porn movie.Now I feel stupid,said Van Iveren,39. This is nothing but a mistake.The alarmed neighbor called the police,and Van Iveren was charged with criminal treapass and disorderly conduct.

Two surgeons in Serbia got into a dispute in the operating room,and abandoned the patient to have a fistfight outside.While performing an appendectomy, surgeon Spasoje Radulovic took exception to a remark made by colleague Dragan Vukanic,and the two doctors began arguing,"Vukanic pulled the ear of the operating doctor,and slapped him in the face,"said the anesthesiologist. the surgeons went outside and punched it out,while an assistant completed the operstion.
