I would say that the Boston album is the one that stands out the most to me.

Also, Frampton Comes Alive was huge during the 1970s. That album gets a ton of play on the radio to this day.

As for world impact, it would be hard to top ABBA's international success in the late 1970s. Dancing Queen, Knowing Me-Knowing You, Fernando, Waterloo...etc. I don't know whether the music was so captivating or that hot blonde singing. ;-)
