When Mt. St. Helens had its volcanic eruption in the 1980's the eruption was so massive that it reduced the height of the mountain by over 1,500 feet!

The battle of New Orleans WAS actually fought before the war ended. While a TENTATIVE deal was reached in Ghent, Belgium Dec. 24, 1814, it didn't end the war cuz the respective govts. hadn't ratified it. So, the battle was fought in jan. 8, 1815, the treaty wasn't ratified till Feb. 2.

Thus, the history boox are wrong in saying the battle was fought after the war was over.
