Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tour ... ssic/index
There's the countdown. Boy, how I wished ESPN hadn't gotten this show. I miss the days of Bob Cobb doing the announcing. He had you worked up in a second talking about the show you were getting ready to watch and I just liked the whole show better period

I agree. Me and a buddy of mine spent the whole week at the Classic in 1987 when it was held in Louisville. George Cochran won it that year. I have some awesome pictures of some big name fishermen. We had a blast

Re: Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
I remember how Cobb would come on and talk...saying something like...Kerr Lake...sprawling out over x acres as the anglers head out...etc etc...so let's sit back and get ready to enjoy...
remember that? not only that but back then...the only ads were for Fishing stuff too so it wasn't painful to go to a break. ESPN has flat screwed it up.

One other thing is that we'll be coming up on the dark end of the moon, which should make for less feeding by the fish at night," Jones said. "We should have a pretty good early morning bite, especially if the weather stays mild."
The Red River's near optimal conditions also gives anglers schooled in all different types of fishing an opportunity to compete for the $500,000 first prize

Re: Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
Down to one day now. I, too, liked it a whole lot better than it is now. I wished ESPN would have never gotten their hands into it. They are trying to run it like they do a basketball or football game or something. I just don't think they understand the sport or something. I hate the way they're filmed too.
one thing too about Ray Scott...they always kept it very family like, I think we're seeing a change from that. Back in the late 60's and early 70's..they even had a Bible Devotion in the magazine as I used to read it when my dad was a member of B.A.S.S..

Re: Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
KantuckII would probably like to see Keith Olberman come back to ESPN and run it.....
They would have all left handed fishermen in it.

Re: Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
Yep..he had it right
Here's the first, second and combined totals after day two. They're not lined up of course..but you can figure this one out pretty good though it seems. Odd, how a couple of the old big names are stuttering. Then again, I couldn't imagine fishing (and catching fish) with all that hassle here..people following you and a dozen boats setting by you...being rocked all over the place and the pressure of a 1/2 million purse would make a guy start to second guess himself every time he pulled into an area and everything he tied on if he wasn't catching fishing in minutes of doing both!
I do see ole' Michael Iaconelli is right in the pursuit...that guy drives a friend of mine nuts..he can't stand him. I'd laugh if he'd win this one. One thing about it..the guy might be a loudmouth but man, can he fish.
Oh..and 27 of them have limited out both days..that's over 50%, that's pretty impressive for this time of the year I think

Re: Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
Here's the Bass Master Classic TV schedule from ESPN (Bring back Bob Cobb and company!) http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tv/n ... ass_reairs
I'm getting ready to go out the door in a few minutes but I'm going set the DVR up to record a bunch of it before I do

Thanks, Hammer .......and Kantuck there were MORE numbers on that list for each angler for the 1st day. I just didn't bother to list them all thinking that you might POSSIBLY look at the question you were being asked.
Day 1 Results
1 Boyd Duckett 5 20- 3 5 20-3
What do the last two numbers mean...... if it isn't too much trouble for you.

Re: Bassmaster's Classic - 6 Days To Go
Sometimes he gets' on my nerves watching him but when you actually get him to just talk..he seems very level headed and intelligent. No one can deny that he isn't a great fisherman though. A friend of mine would shoot him though I believe..my wife thinks he's hilarious, I'm kinda in he middle there about him. Maybe that's why I always fish by myself, huh?
