My Walleye Got Ate!

My nephew called me and off we went on the spur of a moment to the Greenup Dam this afternoon.

Anyway...I caught a Walleye about a foot long or so. I had hooked it deep and it was into the gills as well. I tried to remove the hook as gingerly as possible but it was to no avail..the fish flipped onto it's back and fluttered..I watched it for a minute or so as the current slowly started pulling it towards the lock wall in the Kentucky side...I watched it for a couple of minutes, it would flutter a bit but that's about it and then about that time..BAM! man, something come up there and grabbed that thing and it was gone! I'd loved to have seen what swallowed that thing whole like that. Must have been a huge cat or something..maybe a striper if there's any left but, I kinda doubt that..

not as big as swallowing a man whole but impressive all the same!

I have used 16 to 20 inch river perch for bait and caught catfish over forty pounds with them.just cut there tail fin off so the cant drag your line every where, and they bleed real slow and live a long time.

you're a scary man!

I can still see that thing disappearing...like that movie Jaws..

Nothing though..shall ever compare to the time I was at Jackson Lake in 74 and watching right at dusk a baby duck swimming towards the bushes that are by those cabins that are left of the launch ramp (guess they're still there?)...it got about 20' from the shore and I seen the water swirl and the duck gently disappeared under the surface...a second or so later..it comes back up and continues swimming towards the shore...a few seconds later...same thing..but this time..the duck is under the water a good bit longer...and then it begins to rapidly this time swim towards shore..right as it got about 5' or so from it that water BLEW UP! I mean...water went everywhere and that duck disappeared and never came up again! Amazing sight to have seen..

they used to have big muskie or tigers in there..I'm sure that is what gobbled that thing down...

Just stop at Hickory Grove paylake and ask the owner Rob what I use, he will tell you. I have even used a 13 inch large mouth and caught a 40 pounder. Dont beat me up for that KY. that was before he got all the big 60, 70, 80, and 90 pounders thats in there now im thinking about a maybe a whole chicken.

I used to live right below the Greenup dam and one day I was walking my Black Lab down there and was throwing sticks out in the river for him to retrieve. I had him on a 50' chain leash and that was all the further I would let him go out. After about 30 minutes I threw a big stick way out there and after it he went. All of a sudden he went under and didn't come back up. Something was pulling hard on that chain and it got to where I couldn't hold it any more so I wrapped it around a tree to hold it. After about 10 minutes some slack came in the chain so I pulled it in. To my distress my dog was gone but wrapped up in the end of the chain was an old '64 Volkswagon bumper.
Now, that's the stone boldy truth if it was ever told.

Your turn Kantuck.

These Scioto County boys would kick a man down for lying or telling the truth, they just like to kick a man down! or kick a man when he's down and still his historical boulder under the river when he's laying there bleeding!

Why send them a picture when we could have them come over to Ohio to see it and charge money for crossing the state line to see the rock.
