Re: anything happening below greenup dam ?
I was there about a week ago. Water was still pretty high then. We caught about 12 white bass total but..they were those big fat long ones that are a blast to catch. Hopefully the water levels will be down some for you

I'm still waiting on a call from an "acquaintance" to go with him. I've really been looking forward to it.

My 9 footer and electric motor is in the back of the truck. How brave are you?
Re: anything happening below greenup dam ?
When i was younger My brother and I would use a john boat and electric trolling motor to go out to the pier in Sciotoville under the Train tressle in the middle of the river. But we used to swim accross the river every now and then so we wasnt worried about sinking. Man when them barges came by the boat would bounce up and down, I dont know how we never sunk out there. I would never try it now.

I tried swimming across the Ohio once. Got within about 10 feet of the other side and got worn out and had to turn around and come back. (oldie but goodie)

Re: anything happening below greenup dam ?
We used to swim it all the time, Untill one of the kids I went to school with drowned while tring to help save his dad from drowning. After that we stop swimming in the river, and prob... a good thing.
Once we were about half way across one of the guys got cramped up and we swim over to help him. We were going to take him back but when we turned around and looked it seemed miles away. If you have ever been in the middle with out a boat it looks no different than standing on the bank and looking across. It look like it was a mile either way. Lucky for us we found him a big log floating by. It took him way down river but he got back to shore.

I've treaded water out there in the middle of the river before. Looks like you're out in the ocean and..really, looking back on it, you couldn't get much dumber than to swim that far out, over your head with no rescue boat or a life jacket. I guess God sure had to look out over someone like me to reach 53 (soon to be 54 I hope) years old!

Im not sure about Green up , but I was Bellville locks and dam last night , and 2 of us caught over 100 fish , Most were Saugeyes about 16-20 inches , with a few Crappie, Whites, Hybrids, Smallies and one 10lb Drum , They were caught on Green or Pink Twister Tails.

You know if you go fishing at the Dam not to leave anything you like in plain site in your vehicle. It will be gone when you come back up the hill.
