COAL GROVE, OH-The stars of Dirt Late Model and Bomber racing will shine at the Rocky Top Raceway this weekend as one of the biggest races in the history of the track will take place on Friday, June 13th. On the card will be the “Tri-America Contractors 50” paying $5,000 to win Late Models and the “Tri-America Contractors 25” paying $1,000 to win Bombers. Mod Lites will also be racing for their regular, $200 to win purse. Tomahawk Race Car Modifieds will have the night off.

Rocky Top’s previous $5,000 to win Late Model shows have produced some of the most exciting dirt track racing around. In last years “Engines Inc. 50” (which will be held this year on July 11th) that paid $5,000 to win, World of Outlaws Late Model series champion Steve Francis took the win over a stout field of 30 Late Models that came from five different states. “Opening Night” winner R. J. Conley took the win in the other $5,000 to win race that was held at the track in the year 2005. So far this season, Jackie Boggs (2), R. J. Conley, and Josh McGuire have taken Late Model feature wins.

The “Tri-America Contractors 25” is the largest paying Bomber race in the entire region. Bombers put on some of the best racing week in and week out at Rocky Top as this should be a great event. In last years running of the race, Danny Hamilton made a last lap pass to claim the $1,000 prize over Brian Sammons, Wayne Hughes, Perry Dearing, and John Rayburn. Wayne Hughes (3) and Jeremie Bretz have won Bomber races this season.

A special format designed for giving fans the most entertaining racing has also been put in place for the event. Late Models will run no dash race but instead will run ten lap heat races in which the top two finishers in each heat will redraw for starting positions 1-6, 1-8, or 1-10 (depending on number of heat races) for the 50 lap feature. B-Mains will be 12 laps. Single file restarts will still be used.

Gates will open at 4:00 pm while Hot Laps are scheduled to get underway at 7:30 pm. General Admission for the event is $20 while Pit Admission is $30. RTR features grandstand seating along with plenty of places for fans to bring lawn chairs. For more information visit www.rockytopraceway.net.
